It's $1.18 a quart at Advance Auto near me.

Much better deal than the one they had two weeks ago- gallon jugs for $6.50 or something.

I guess I will stock up as much as I can- $100 worth will get me about 20 oil changes in my 95 Accord, which would get me almost 100k miles down the road. If I can get this car to 240k miles, I will be happy.

I think I will pass on the $1.38 Purolater Premium Plus filters and use Wix or PureONE.

Oh, did I mention that I got an Escrow refund check for $114?

I don't know about "the best oil," but it seems to be as good as any as far as wear metals in UOAs. And a lot of people say it runs quiet.

The only problem with stocking up on oil is you might decide in six months that there is something better. Or change vehicles and need a different grade.

What will make this easy on me fighting the "Limit one case" deal is there's an Autozone next to it and an O'Reilly next to Autozone.

Afraid you're right, I just checked the Adv Auto website & no mention of cheap Havoline except for a $6.88/jug deal. Oh well, I'll keep watching, maybe Fred's Discount stores will put it on sale.

LOL This stuff is praised for its add pack and the good dose of moly in it. What is it exactly that is so good about having moly in the oil? What is its primary function? Can too much or too little hurt? I primarily use Castrol GTX...not too much moly in the GTX from my understandingl.

It's not really the fact that it's any better than the others. It's just the fact that it's a good oil at a lower price compared to the others.

Lately looks like many use boron (Conoco family of oils) and NA for Mobil 5000 to get similar results.

That's not what I hear over and over and over.
What I hear is that if you look at the UOA's, it is better than Castrol GTX. Better is better. Price is a non-issue here.

So with that, does anyone know what the benefit of having all that extra load of moly in the Havoline does for the oil and your engine.?

I would only say it's better if all the UOAs were done on similar engines. Some engines show great results on the cheapest oils out there. Some aren't so good on big name brands. The bottom line is Havoline MAY be the best oil but there really isn't enough data out there to prove it.

I'm still interested to know how all the extra moly enhances things? Many of the other dino's don't have much if any at all.

It sound like molybenum is something very beneficial to have. Other brands such as Valvoline and Castrol, etc.. which use much less moly or none at all, must have found another way around it. I wonder what they use instead. Seems it must be an added expense to use in creating a good oil.

Dude, 240K miles out of a Honda is a piece of cake.....especially if you use a high quality oil like Havoline

I would agree with you, but I bought this old thing used, and the idiot who was the previous owner obviously didn't do much maintenance. I'm thinking 10K oil changes. Plus, it was stolen and I'm sure it was taken to the redline a few times. Good thing Honda has a rev limiter.

I will probably do 2-3 UOA and get a feel of what is going on.
