The blades on my powerful Ninja BL454 need replacing but I find that my old Oster seems to do a well enough job at smoothies so I guess I'll retire that noisy ole Ninja and run the Oster. The Ninja was so loud I wore earplugs when I used it. I don't know if the Oster would liquefy whole flax seeds like the Ninja but it does a good job blending whole carrots and peeled oranges.

This was made out of 2 Cara Cara oranges, a mango, a carrot, 3 raw eggs, and some herbs and it sure was good.

I have one of the Ninja blenders as well. My kid loves making smoothies in it... the ingredients are usually banana, some berries, peaches, avocado, a little bit of milk, and a couple of ice cubes.

Avocado and/or raw egg give a smoothie a nice creamy texture.

We love our Vitamix for making smoothies. As long as there is enough liquid to keep everything moving, nothing slows that thing down. 11.5 amps is a lot of juice!

That's true with any blender. If there isn't enough liquid it makes the blender work too hard and you're basically trying to mix mud.
It doesn't blend efficiently unless there is enough liquid to circulate everything.

I swore that my blender was getting ready to give it up this time last year. So I bought a new one, just like it.

Old blender is still grinding away (literally), new one is still in the box, one year later.

We love our Ninja. But raw eggs? Yuck!
They make the smoothie taste much better, they make it taste creamy, plus eggs are a great food.
Raw eggs add a nice richness to a smoothie, kind of like egg nog.

I've eaten thousands of raw eggs over the last 20 years and never had a problem with them.
Sometimes I even eat raw eggs alone, blended with a little cinnamon.
Adding raw eggs to a smoothie is the easy way to eat raw eggs.
I even know people who eat the shells along with it.

Here's my smoothie on steroids.
1/2 cup each Milk and Kefir
1Tbs each ground Flax Seeds and Whole Hemp Seeds
One Egg
1Tbs Plain Yogurt
1Tbs Mixed Nut Butter
1/2 Banana
3/4 cup Frozen Mix Berries (Blueberry, Raspberry, Strawberry and Blackberry)
1Tbs Nutritional Yeast Flakes
1Tbs Protein Powder
1Tsp Creatine Powder
1/3Tsp Spirulina and Organic Turmeric Powder.
Blended in Vitamix

I use a NutraBullet Rx. It also has a heating function to make soup. My morning smoothie is almond milk. a carrot, strawberries (sometimes with a banana or peach or both), a handful of kale and a couple of teaspoons of apple cider vinegar for the fermented aspect. It's preety good but may get a little funky if you overdo the vinegar.

I don't crack the egg. It goes whole in blender.

You should open each raw egg into another dish to make sure it doesn't smell bad.
If you happen to get a rotten egg with salmonella, you will ruin the whole smoothie if you add it, and if you drank it you'd be one sick puppy.
Only about 1 in 30k eggs are bad but it's still a gamble if you don't open the egg before adding it to a smoothie.

Did not think of it. The eggs are fresh maybe 3-4 days old from friend who raises chickens.
I just wash them real good. You scared me a little so I think I'll start cracking them. Not a bad idea. Thanks.

I cracked a bad one once and words could not describe how bad it smelled.
I literally ran out of the house with it and threw it away.
If I had eaten that ....... oh man.
Sometimes they can forget to harvest an egg and it may spoil before it gets harvested.
That may not happen a lot but it can happen.

That's pretty similar to what I make. I use usually less ingredients but vary them from day to day. I also use powdered peanut butter, chia. Spirulina and turmeric are great. I skip the creatine because my meat consumption is more than sufficient. I have no problems with raw eggs. A couple raw eggs blended with OJ is great before an early morning workout.

Cool.
I forgot the Chia Seeds. I usually soak them overnight before use in smoothie.

Sometimes I add things like licorice, organic beet powder, spirulina, Ashwagandha, Schizandra, dandelion, fresh ginger, nutritional yeast, etc. I used to add Brazil nuts but now I get selenium from eating more eggs. Carrots are good in it because I'm sick of eating raw whole carrots but wanted to get the carrot down somehow.

I make chia pudding sometimes by adding almond milk and apple juice to chia seeds.
