My son is the lead detailer at a GM dealership and he sees his fair share of disgusting stuff But then he often gets some pretty awesome stuff like this:View attachment 264423

That one just smelled of farts, BenGay and brand new New Balance shoes.

I can be on the motorcycle and tell if someone is smoking with the windows down, in the car in front of me.

I can smell the neighbor smoking and their place is a good 200ft away.

The smell of a cigarette being smoked outside doesn't bother me that much. But that stale smell that gets accumulated in a car over time is disgusting. And yes, without replacing most of the interior, you never truly get rid of it, especially once they get that bad. I've owned maybe two vehicles that were owned by smokers and neither one was heavily smoked in, but it took a long time for that smell to fade even after extensive interior detailing.

Yeah takes years to get it all gone this helps a bunch. A good cleaning and wiping everything real good. Then with battery disconnected a small bowl of gasoline on the floor and sitting under the hot sun, for a few days with all windows closed. Then open them all for some days on end. Can try other stuff like the gas too.

I worked at Farm and Fleet in the tire and exhaust shop as I was putting myself through college. One day I climbed into an old station wagon and almost immediately vomited. It was a guys fishing car and he never cleaned it out. Some people are not right….

You all are tough on us old smokers. Im glad the younger generation is passing on the habit. My kids and grandkids hate cigarettes and I'm glad they do.

When I worked at a saw shop, someone dropped a saw for repairs.

As it thawed out, maggots started coming out onto the bench.

He had used it to cut a moose that fall and never cleaned it .
And got beyond angry when we told him to.come pick it up, no one was going to work on it.

Way back 28 years or so ago in the early days of online dating, I met a girl on one of the many free sites. I think the big names back then were Lavalife and Matchmaker.

Wow those were indeed the early days! This was probably right after VHS dating tapes lol.

The floorboards of the car were knee-deep in empty cigarette packs, old butts were scattered about here and there on absolutely every surface, etc. I’ve never seen anything like it before or since. And the lovely young lady smelled like a choking smoke-filled barroom from 20 feet away. Ah, then I knew why she was single!

So.....what happened? You got her the patch and will be celebrating your 28th anniversary soon?

As far as I'm concerned, a smokers car is totaled.

Pretty much that or strip the interior and wash it thoroughly. Seat covers, floor mats, carpet, through the washing machine, maybe even replace them. New headliner. It's an interior re-do.
