Silly logic. Its not that a small sump will "cause an issue" to you as a consumer, but a larger sump would certainly contribute to the oil remaining in good condition for longer. When you're short-interval changing at <10,000 mile intervals, and your engine's not an oil burner- sure, you're OK with a little sump. But extend OCIs, or the engine starts consuming oil, and you can get into trouble much quicker with small sumps. Its about margin for degradation over the life of the vehicle.
