Ok. Here's the scenario:
2019 F-150 3.5L Ecoboost. 100K miles. I changed oil at 100,205 miles on January 23rd. I live in Montana and we've had some pretty cold weather (negative teens to negative 20's F.) I'm a short tripper. 1 mile to work. I do this 3 times a day. During the cold weather, when it gets to about 10 degrees F or lower, I remote start and idle for about 5 minutes. Occasionally a couple hour round trip out of town about once a month. When I change the oil the oil life after reset is of course at 100% and 7500 miles. I have now driven 438 miles. Of those miles there was one out of town trip as mentioned above. My oil life monitor now is at 82% and 4000 miles. So basically, it appears that I've done 3500 miles of wear in 438 miles.
I was thinking of going 3,000 miles for this OCI. But now I'm thinking shorter. What say you? (During the summer when I do more out of town trips, I do 4,000-mile OCI.)
(BTW oil is PUP 5w30 with Motorcraft FL 500s Filter.)

I wouldn't do more than 3k on that use pattern either, anything less is probably overkill though. JMO.

The oil life monitor is doing its job by heavily derating the oil life in those cold short trip conditions. Just follow the OLM, and change the oil at whatever percentage you feel comfortable with. The OLM may not be perfect, but it will be able to estimate the oil life better than you can unless you're basing it on UOAs or something.

The best thing you could do for the engine and the oil life would be to use a block heater. The improvement to oil life would be reflected in the OLM, since it will be based on engine temperature. You'd also get better fuel economy and less cold start wear.
