Slip 2000

You've may have heard about this new CLP currently being tested at Aberdeen including the great results they're getting from it. I can tell you this lube (and I have a whole bunch others) works better then any other I've tried. It does not attract grit and can handle the extreme pressures of even the most robust civilian or military rifles and pistols. At 1,200 F spec, burn off will not happen. Cold temp the CLP will not gum up. It cleans carbon and fouling excellent and most all you don't need very much to clean and lube your firearms. This lube will stay on your firearm in your safe for a long time.

On their web page you'll see a couple types of lube, you don't need the military extreme only the red bottle Slip 2000 CLP.

I suspect this formula is an ester base, bio friendly, zero odor, and more importantly does the job.

I know I'll get other preferences from people but like I wrote I have a whole box full of lubes and haven't seen anything work as good to date for an off the shelf product.

Also Anything "wet or oily" will attract dust and debris.

I'm sure Slip 2000 is a good material. As long as it gets the job done and it fits your budget then go for it. The main thing for me is how it's bottles. If it comes in a squirt bottle and it has a decent quantity in the bottle then I'd use almost anything as long as it is considered a CLP.

My personal preference was Ezzox in the old days but now it packaged differently. It has a good consistancy about it although it wasn't bio-degradable. Unfortunately for me I can't get it here in Los Angeles. No distributors around here.

I'll keep Slip 2000 in mind for future perchases.

Bruce, it depends how you apply it. I had LSA back in the old days my son CLP and now Slip. Slip can be applied lightly and will not attract dirt or dust and carbon cleans up well. No problems with it to date. The more you use it the better it cleans the same firearm.

Most of the new oils coming out I would guess are ester (plants etc...) based.

Bottle says 1,200F not sure why the difference from the MSDS.

I use an industrial, light vis, solvent cut back, rust inhibitor I make at work.

for slides and high wear area I use a red industrial lube I make for a local custom .45 smith.

Any FM/AW/EP in that oil Bruce? Visc, base oil type...if you don't mind me asking?

PAO based, bentone thickener S,P, and other solid film lubes with ester and high TBN good for rust protection same red stuff you have tryed. NO chlor made for high film strenght with a "low" break away torque at low temp.

Gunsmith i make it for makes very tight custom .45 ACP's and he uses it one slide rails and other spots and tests reliability by
putting in freezer over night then runs a full mag. Some other lubes will jam.

How about the specs on the light visc. oil that you were talking about?

Light oil is a CA high TBn rust inhibitor in a solvent/mineral oil mix nothing special I just like to wipe guns down with this and put away, I do not have any rust with this but is dry here in bay area.

Guess my first post will be to bring an old thread back to life.

Stumbled upon this website, super great information here, many, many thanks! I'm a toxicologist by trade, for a huuuuge pharmaceutical company. Likely that I can't contribute too much here, but I do have a large database of information from the toxicology realm, where I can look up all sorts of chemicals and such if needed.

After spending hours at this site thus far.. I have one question. When is bruce381 going to make and market a firearms CLP blend of his own? You can count me in for a pre-order, that is for certain! I'm largely joking of course.
