Sirius XM best deal

After my free trial they offered me 5 months for $25 with out even calling them, total was $30 and some change.

So I'm getting ready to renew the service and wondered what the best deal anyone has made with them. I think I have all access but the only thing I listen to is music so it looks like I can live with the Select service. Also whats the best way to approach this, tell them I want to cancel and wait for them to offer me a deal or ask for a deal right away.
 
Currently paying $60/12 mo, which is the same as $25/5 mo.

If been paying this rate for over 7 years.

It's the same old with them. Always gotten it with my new cars, I let it expire and then they send me something in the mail every day and each day the deal gets better. I've gotten 6 months for $30 numerous times. The price they try and charge for that service at normal pricing is ridiculous and very few must pay that much or they wouldn't have to resort to such tactics.

That being said, I do miss it when I don't have it. I love their stand up comedy stations. Makes long drives much more enjoyable, imo.

Spend the money on a streaming service. XM sucks. When my trial ran out they harrassed me for MONTHS. Multiple pieces of mail a week, phone calls 5x a week, etc. I finally answered the phone and lost it on the poor woman on the other end. I felt kind of bad after that... But not that bad.

Do research on the horror stories people have had cancelling the service, as well. It's right up there with Comcast. Including the continuing charges, billing inconsistency, etc. Being a Comcast customer, I fear the day I have to try to end service from them.

Why anyone pays for a looped, barely diverse, less-than-FM sound quality service is BEYOND me.

To answer the question directly, keep the money in your pocket. THAT'S the best XM deal there is.

Thanks for the link, not sure how I missed that one. Sounds like $5 a month is as good as it gets.

I know it's not the best sounding but I live in a small town with only two half way descent stations and one is 45 miles away and neither of them sound any better. I'm also never in my car for more the 10 or 15 minutes so I like being able to listen to music all the time rather than listening to commercials. If I can get it for $5 a month it's worth it to me.
 
The best I've seen is $100 for 3 years. It was an email a few months ago for my wife's car that currently does not have Sirius activated. Works out to be $2.83 per month.

Another viable option is Apple Music, $5 month with an .edu email address. I actually have one through work but I am sure they can be obtained without too much difficulty....

Wow! If you ever see that again please PM me. I'd jump all over that.

Not that there's a real difference between $5/mo and $2.83/mo but hey over 3 years that differential adds up!

I did see that posted on another forum a couple times. I just got off the phone and got the same deal I did before, 5 months for $24.99 + 4.77 tax, I can live with that. She said the 36 month deal was no longer available and like you said only for new subscribers.

Sound quality is excellent in my Honda, guess it depends what car you drive.

Sounds fine on my Harman Kardon system too. But then again I'm not an audiophile.

The quality of the stereo in xxx vehicle will certainly matter, however with XM it's usually the poorer quality audio systems that make it sound good. The bitrate of XM is terrible. Lower quality audio systems can mask this, higher quality ones expose the flaws. Also, the quality is in the "ear" of the beholder. Some people just don't hear the difference, period. I'm sometimes jealous of those people, because terrible sounding audio ruins it for me and not them.

When I first got my Volt, I actually thought XM sounded decent (in that particular vehicle). Then, I upgraded the speakers. No amps, no aftermarket radio, just the speakers. I immediately had to adjust the EQ to compensate for the obvious compression artifacts that became apparent with better quality speakers. Needless to say I stuck with Spotify.
 
The 3 years for $99 was/is aimed at vehicles 10 years of age or older with deactivated radios. I received that offer via email for my '08 Avalanche the end of last year.

In my experience over the years with Sirius XM, the best deals usually come when you call and try to cancel your service. They will transfer you to retention. My wife used to get offers for $79/year after saying she wanted to cancel because the service was too expensive.

I think it sounds o. k and even at 10.00 a month that isn't a bad deal if you like the stations and listen to it a lot. Cable TV costs far more.
 
I play this game with Sirius every 6 months. My $30 package will get close to running out and I call to cancel. The rep offers me 6 months $80. Nope, nope, nope. Please cancel on my last day. My radio shuts off and not a week later I get a mailer for 6 months $30. Like clockwork.
 
Yeah. My 5months for $25 ends the first of the year and will automatically default to full retail price on my card if I do nothing. I do enjoy SiriusXM. That's all the radio in my Ram is tuned into, but I regret having to call them in December. I wish there was a way to do longer contracts do minimize the hassle.

The sound in my vehicles is pretty darn good. Even though I live in an area where pretty much every radio frequency is occupied, terrestrial radio is horrible.

Streaming all of time will use a lot of data. I found this out while listening (in my work vehicle) to a great streaming service - Sirius/XM.

I've heard of the cancelling horror stories. Something I'm not planning on doing.
