Champion labs makes this Supertech filter. There part of first brands now but they have long been regarded as one of the most reputable filter manufacturers out there. If your refering to the Champ XL / supertech MP - all the ones I have seen had metal end caps.Thank you. Well in my book that’s a positive feature. We’ve never seen fiber and caps come loose like metal ones.
Do the more expensive ones also have the same construction?
And your exact photo I saw on a thread while doing tons of research Is what had me worried lol. ****I would not worry about more recent ST oil filters. However, I still don't use ST filters after this happened ~10 years ago. This is an ST3614 that was on my '98 LS400 for ~5k miles. I've been installing either Denso or OEM Toyota oil filters since.
