I have been wanting to try a HDEO in my 2002 Tacoma 2.7 (3RZ). Upon searching the UOA's and other threads on this forum, I have decided I would like to give Rotella T5 (10W-30) a try. My owners manual calls for a 5W-30 or 10W-30 (above zero F), and this same motor found in South Africa calls for a 15W-40, so I see no reason I couldn't use T5, especially during the summer months.

Then I saw my engine recommends an energy conserving SL or SJ type oil. The T5 is rated CJ-4, Cl-4 plus, Cl-4, CH-4, CG-4/SM.

I admit I don't fully understand all these service specifications, so is there any reason I shouldn't use the T5 in my Tacoma?

Absolutely not. T5 would be a great oil to use in your truck.

I WISH we got 10W-30 Rotella up here!

Looks like you do! http://www.shell.ca/home/content/can-en/...oduct_name.html

That may be, but you will NEVER find it at a store up here!

:P[/quote]

Like Wal-Mart or some other chain store? I imagine it would be a greater cost to source it from one of the Shell distributors in the province that your in....but worth it! You guys have some other good stuff we don't get here in the States...like SRS 2000 Extreme grease.

I have used Delo 400 15W40 in my 3RZ-FE with no problems,my South African manual calls for 10W30 but we do not get that weight here!
Even 5W30 is scarce all I can find is Liqui moly 5W30 but it is very expensive.
