Around here I think only V-power is top-tier, for Shell. All grades of Chevron are top-tier locally, I believe. Not sure about other brands, such as Sinclair & Phillips.

Then you know how we all Angelinos feel right now. Good quality gas in this state? There's no such thing as the so called low quality gas is just as high as Sell, Chevron and etc. So far Arco seems to be fairly reasonable along side Valero BUT Arco gas is cash only. Again for now I'd rather but Arco or Valeron and put in a bottle of Techron gas additive. Cheaper for me and my pocket. Heck!! I need to put food on the table too.

Filled the tank here today. Regular unleaded was @ $2.33.9. Have used Shell and Chevron/Texaco for many years with good results. All grades of both here are "Top Tier" gasolines.
I run Sunoco and still use Techron.
All Shell gasolines meet Top Tier standards.
Phillips meets the standards as well. Not positive, but I don't believe Sinclair does.
Check out the current Top Tier retailers at www.toptiergas.com, all grades must meet the top tier standards for the retialer to listed as "top tier"

Around here 87 is $1.024/liter, so $4.50+/gal. And I know lots of you complain about the 10 cent/GALLON premium on hi-test. Here it's an 11 cent/LITER premium, or 50 cent/gallon. I guess it's because Toronto is so remote and isolated from the rest of the world. Or maybe our gas is twice as good... We haven't seen fuel prices as good as the ones you're complaining about since the early 90s I think. We actually had made it down to an astonishing low of about $3/gal before a rail strike and a couple of refinery fires fixed that right up.
Same here Shell has three tanks. By pumping 50% regular unleaded and 50% V-Power 93 Octane. I end up with about 90 Octane and the extra cleaning additives that V-Power has and it's a few ¢ cheaper here that way here too.
would that work with Sunoco?
I think Sunoco has always blended only two tanks. Anyone remember the retro Sunoco "blend station" pumps from the analog days?
I remember those Sunoco pumps back when Premium was 102 octane. They were great!
I mix regular & premium in the winter for my turbo car for better cold-weather starts, and in the pickup when hauling the camper in the summer. Works well for me.
I read that on the web about all grades being top-tier, but I'm not sure that's true with Shell, at least in the PNW. Guess it depends on who you talk to. Shell's advertising doesn't mention top-tier except for V-power. Maybe it's a ploy to get people to buy the more expensive grade.

YES, all top tier...but the last posts were about Shell and Sunoco, which is not a top tier, so i wanted to avoid confusion.
Sunoco in Canada is not the same company as the US Sunoco. USed to be. Sunoco Canada and most of Sunoco US use 10% ethanol. They both use lots of additives, but not sure if they are top tier.
To the original poster. As I recall( which don't mean jack) Anyways I do remember Shell had a problem with their gas in Northern Washington State and Southern BC (same supplier for the most part) It screwed up the fuel system something awful. If I remember there was a class action suit for all the ruined fuel systems.

Did they fix it I have no idea. So you would have to do some digging your self, maybe it is still an issue.

I try to use Shell exclusively in both my vehicles. They run great on it. I was there yesterday and noticed something different, there used to be stickers on the pumps that said the fuel contained 10% ethanol. Now those stickers are gone off of ALL the pumps. It seems also that my truck is running better since I filled it up last night. Does the summer blend have the ethanol in it? Or do they only use it for winter blend?
Think the summer blend has returned; I too ONLY use Shell gas in all 4 vehicles and I've noticed on 3 of them, their summer gas mileage average is returning.
If I happened to stop somewhere else, there is a very noticeable difference in 2 of the 4 vehicles.
And one vehicle will literally go from a good 18mpg city on Shell, to 16mpg if I've visited a non-Shell gas-station.
Bad thing is, is there's not one readily available in my normal path of commute - but, I don't mind swinging off a block or two for an extra 2mpg.
If I happened to stop somewhere else, there is a very noticeable difference in 2 of the 4 vehicles.
And one vehicle will literally go from a good 18mpg city on Shell, to 16mpg if I've visited a non-Shell gas-station.
