Random factoid: There is an episode of Law & Order Criminal Intent where Goren asks Capt Deakins if the eye-patch he was wearing "helped with the Bell's Palsy". I read later that the actor who played Deakins (Jamey Sheridan) actually has Bell's.

Glad to hear it wasn't something more serious, Shannow.

Get well soon!

I have to say when I saw the title of this thread, I thought that CATERHAM had finally flipped and had enough of you!

Drooling, maybe. But not yet an idiot, sir. Get well soon.

Is the Guiness or Foster's in your area fortified with the B vitamins you need for good nerve health?

Never had Bell's myself, but I've known a lot of people who did (and my DOG had the doggie equivalent a few years ago- talk about uncontrolled drooling!!)

Nowdays they can treat it with 'roids and get you back to normal in a decent amount of time. But back in the late 60s when my mother had it, it was months of paralysis. So long that her facial muscles lost tone, and they gave her an electro-stimulator to exercise her face twice a day! She did eventually make a full recovery, but the treatment is a much better process now.

Good luck to you- and while you may be drooling, I wouldn't say you're an idiot! I can think of other screen names that more quickly associate with that description... :-p

Too much Fosters gives you symptoms similar to Bell's.......

I know a few folks who have had Bell's, Steve, they have all recovered to their old selves.

Being on the other side of the world does the drool run up into your nose ??

Take care old friend.

P.B.

Aaaargh, my daughter developed this after surgery once. It can be SCARY, sort of looks like a stroke or something.

You'll come through fine, good luck!

Thanks for all the well wishers, you guys are great.

Mum on the phone last night was hard, as she's putting it down to stress, with Dad in November, and work stuff, and getting teary etc. Was nearly as stressful as the ER part of the day.

Woke up with a start this morning eye taped shut.."oh yeah, that's right.

Update on the additives and treat rate.

Prednisone 75mg a morning for 7 days.
Apparently a UOA would show this at 2500% of normal values.

PVA Forte eye moistening drops
20ppm PolyVinyl Alcohol
0.05ppm benzalkonium chloride.

Poly Visc to smear in eye before sleep (and taped over).
I liked the name, but got a laugh out of the ingredients.
Paraffin and wool fat (undosclosed ration, must be proprietary), possible autoRx substitute >

Hope you get over it soon.

Not what you wanna hear, but a coworker had it about 10 years ago. It never went away. Some cases are permanent, hope thats not the case with yours.
