My cancer story

Good you got checked out. Good friend of ours had to have his left kidney removed last September due to cancer - contained to just the kidney. He's 77 and is doing just fine, still beats us at cards and dominoes.

There is a lot of excellent info online and facebook on how to stay cancer free - pretty much eliminate all processed foods, junk food and get rid of every chemical in your house (change everything to toxin free), by chemicals I am your shampoo, dishwashing soap, hand soap and everything else and eat organic whole foods only. Stay healthy!

Rooting for you Sir.
No bumpy cars now though - kidney stones are always to be avoided, more so when you have only one. Time for Cadillacs !

Very happy you’re recovering well and it was found fairly early. I have a family member who had the exact same thing happen.

The timeline of events you had IMO is no different than what we have in the U.S., which is glad to hear. All you hear in the U.S. how slow the Canadian healthcare system is. And all I see with me, my friends, and family is how slow the U.S. system is.

Glad to hear you are doing well. Our stories are similar. In May 2024, I spent a weekend with abdominal pain. Monday morning, my wife took me to the local ER. A CT scan showed diverticulitis as the cause of the pain...and incidentally also showed a 13cm tumor which had mostly overtaken my right kidney. It was removed with a hand-assisted laparoscopic nephrectomy. Pathology showed chromophobe RCC, which is much less common than clear cell. (The advantage of chromophobe is that it is less likely to metastasize, but if it does, there is less known about how to treat it.) Mine was also contained, and like you, I have a CT scan every 6 months.

Best wishes to you for continued good health!

So glad to hear that you are doing well. Amazing recovery. And thank you for sharing your story.

Wow! Glad to hear you're OK. Kudos to the ex for not dropping you off at the vets that day too!

Glad you made its through as smoothly as you did.

Similar story -have had a solitary kidney since 2012. Caught it in time, no chemo.

Been completely normal since (other than the hit to my modeling career)

Glad you caught it early and you had a quick recovery! My Mom went through something similar with lung cancer where they caught it early enough that only surgery was needed and 1/3 of a lung was removed.

Thanks for sharing . Now I want to share something with everyone. I was branded a conspiracy theorist on Facebook once for sharing this , but I regard some of you guys as friends and you may disregard what I say if you think I am wrong.

Tagamet has been shown to help boost the immune system so it can keep cancer cells down. While you have removed the cancer, some cells might still be around and cause metastasis.
The drug is cheap OTC, off patent and has virtually no side effects for most people.

In fact I have been taking a dose of 3 tablets a day spaced out every 5 hours (last dose before sleeping), every time I get a sore throat or fever. I usually take this dose for about 7 days and then stop. I have hardly taken any antibiotics for more than 5 years. I always feel better after the first night and much better on 2nd night.

Nobody wants to get cancer but I got one of the better ones to get. The 5 year survivability rate of kidney cancer is 95% as long as it didn’t spread to the lymph nodes (and if it did then the rate goes down to 75%)
The first day the doctor says cancer it's pretty tough. I spent countless hours doing internet searches when the told me I had leukemia at 50 especially since I've had family members pass from the same thing plus other cancers. By the grace of God I've already passed the survivability rate with treatments and going on 12 years now. Stay strong and pray.
