See if you are more Yankee or Dixie

I'm 38% = Yankee I knew to answer "Grinder" as opposed to Hoagie for an Italian sandwich. This probably made me "more" Yankee.

I don't quite get this.

Apparently if you're 50% ..you're neither

I guess this means I'm more Yankee than you TallPaul (looking around the room wondering if this would be considered a "good" thing

43% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category.

But really a born Californian (soda) who uses PNW and WA language, with some OR terms.....this "quiz" pretty much ignores this type of lingo....

Mostly we say "creek" when referring to some other small waterway, but we live on a "crick". We use "papering" and "TP'ing" interchangeably and don't have drive through liquor of any variety

50% yanke? Born and raised in Tacoma washington as were both of my parents? though both of my dads parent were born in Germany...whats my other 50% HUN?

my score was 96% south, born and raised in the big town of Newnan, GA. HA,HA, and no my father was not Gen. Lee or Jeff Davis. This is one of the cool things about BITOG.com, no matter where you are from or where you live, this is a place where we share a common goal and can get along, well most of the time.

Same for me. How someone who grew up in NYC and NJ is "barely yankee" is beyond me. I should at least get an extra 10% for being a Yankee fan. The test is a crock!

63% Southern ! Thank God ! Dad's family is from the south. Nice folks down there. Very good manners and generally very nice folks to interact with. Anywhere north of the Mason Dixon line, folks tend to be more easily riled on little things that really don't matter.

60% Dixie. I guess living in Southern California for 20 years did it :^)

One of my favorite lines from 'How to Speak Southern' is 'Mama, can Yankess get to heaven ?'
