Scratches following rear window replacement

Looking for some advice on what would be a good next step for my situation. First some back story.

Two Fridays ago, I came home from work with a fine just fine rear window. I came out to the car later that evening to find the window completely shattered. I had the rear window replaced that following Monday by Glass America and the zero deductible full glass policy I carry with GEICO. A mobile installer came and did a fine job (I was completely satisifed, 100% spot on) replacing the window in my garage.

A few days later, I was listening to one of the local Canadian stations, 97.7 and noticed that whenever I put turned on the rear defrost, the signal was incredibly distorted with lots of static. I noticed this with every other channel too. With the defrost off, no problems. Also, one line of the rear defrost was not heating.

I called Glass America and they said it was probably a defective window, made an appointment to have it replaced, and it was done so today. Now the radio works fine, as does the defrost, but I now noticed tons of scratches and little pry chips around the window channel. See below. These were not there before, and I'm not in the least bit happy. I know it isn't a show car, or something rare, but [censored] I'm pi$$ed.

I really don't want to deal with these people again as my "replacement" installer and corresponding office personnel seemed frustrated that I was there. What would you all suggest? I guess I want it all fixed.

Call them up and explain the situation? Go directly to GEICO and get them to help me? Thanks.

Shoddy workmanship! It could be a show car or a 90's model Camry, if there was no damage before, and damage now then it ought to be made right on their dime! This kind of mess gets me. I recently had my tires rotated...when I got my car back three of the hub caps were all scratched up, not to mention my bumper had paint cracks that were not there before the car was brought it. Scenario number two, I had my brake fluid changed at my local Honda dealer, when I got the car back my headlight was scratched up along with some marring of the front fender, not to mention the grease stains on my carpet inside! This stuff just makes me frustrated. Why cant people treat others property with care and respect? Make them make this right!

Edit: I followed through with both of my issues and they were made right, minus the bumper damage.

You hit the nail on the head!

No way would I let that go, I would call the insurance company explain what happened and go to another shop with good references.

These places supposedly provide service, yet they do a slipshod job and then have the nerve to get [censored] when you come back with OBVIOUS poor workmanship or damage from their work.

To the service providers, hey guys, I'm not a customer so I can provide you with a living, I pay and want the good service I deserve. Whey you don't provide it, I WILL return and you WILL make it right or else.

If the repair was arranged through Geico, or if they had the shop on a list of "approved" glass shops, then I'd call Geico. Otherwise, I'd call the shop. I agree, though, that the damage needs to be repaired.

GEICO did not send me there, they really didn't recommend any shop except their Safelite, but they said they had a billing agreement/deal with them.

I have always in the past went to Nova Glass, great place, but recently moved and didn't want to take the 25 mile drive. Should've just did it in the first place. Nova Glass is a small independently owned glass shop that has done all of my prior work.

What a shame, I thought I did my homework too. When looking for places I went by reviews, certifications, etc.

It just goes to show that there are very few excellent
auto repair shops around. Most are bad, and more than a few are
horrible.

Call up the glass company and tell them what you found, it's obvious it's from the window replacement. Then go to a body shop and get a printed quote, take it to the glass company and demand a check. Whether you get it fixed is none of their business, you need to be paid.

I called up the place and will be stopping by for them to look at it right after I get a quote from a good body shop around here.
