There is a current post just a few lines down from your post about the RP gear oil. I had a hard time finding the link you and the other member have posted. I see the Royal Purple website is being reconstructed at the present time
and think in part the way some things were worded on the old site led some to believe it to be a lesser oil. I am not convinced it is.
The Timken load of that gear oil is incredible ! And the price is right so I have some on the way to put in my Vette and I expect it will deliver as the specs suggest.Some of the RP oil is coming to try out as well.
One things for sure,there are major differences in gear oils out there. Would you believe me if I told you a Miata absolutely crushed a seemingly good gear oil at one year and 4500 miles used in the rear differential ?It now has Schaeffers # 267 gear oil in it that I understand climbs the gears when cold and when up to temp acts like a normal gear oil,it would be fine for a rock crawler it seems and a Timken load rating of 70. Might hurt gas mileage in a daily drive a tad just pure conjecture on that because I have not checked it to see.I don't think it could be too much though
Thats a area that should not be cheated on a lube and if your FWD calls for the 75/90 I would say go for it imo because it does not seem to get any better than this topic brand gear oil in terms of spec/pricing- Royal Purple
