Just wondering opinions on this new gear oil from valvoline compared to the royal purple max gear. 75/90 or 75/140

I went Amsoil Severe recently in BMW X3 but have used Valvoline 75-90 Synthetic with good results many times. I've never used the RP version.

I have used both with success, under heavy, heavy use. I would consider Amsoil 75w110 if the vehicle is under heavy load. If you plan on changing it again at short intervals such as the old school 30k interval, 80w90 MobilubeHD is a great value, and a time tested product.

I’m using 80W90 AMSOIL SG in my Jeep - that’s one folks don’t think of often - but figured it would not shear …

My nephews union operation uses max gear in HD applications. Somehow the Royal purple rep ended up working with his company to address early failures and that where they settled. I guess it worked. I use motul and have some schaeffers on deck.
