Ive got RP 5w30 in my 06 5.3 Silverado and their 75w90 in the rear and both are doing just fine. No engine noise, excellent fuel economy, etc.

Just checked the oil. 1,534 miles on the change over to Royal Purple 10W40. It has not used one drop. Still full. I have noticed the clicking I was hearing when accelerating on grades in the roadway has almost completely stopped. Thus far, I am VERY pleased with the choice to switch to Royal Purple!

Using RP 5w20 for 5k OCIs so far, it never drops a measurable amount on the dipstick. Soon, i hope to test that on 7,500 OCIs.

Call me cheap or whatever, but I wouldn't spend the money on a 10 year old car with 250k miles.

Keep doing whatever you were doing to get up to 250k miles, no need to change it up now. Especially at six bucks a quart.

If it were my explorer with those kind of miles, I would buy a heavy duty oil, and run that in the summer. Rotella, Delo, etc.

These things are very cheap for a gallon, and a great oil.

For winter I would look at a 5w30 oil.

RP 5w30 takes a beating successfully.

Royal Purple 10w30 used oil analysis

While something may have changed between sarge's supposed disaster and these results, RP is an excellent oil that even gets the nod of approval from Terry, the resident guru. If you cant trust Terry, who can you trust?

UOA is not a "supposed"....."my buddy swears by this stuff" is a "supposed" friend.....secondly I haven't seen Terry Dyson embrace this stuff publicly for quite sometime and suspect a change in vendors supplying the "additives" may have even scared ol Terry off of it....but lets see........

Your used oil analysis carry no more weight than other used oil analysis. And here is what Terry said back in January.

Sorry folks -- Hong Kong Phooey has not just stepped across the line -- he blasted across the line at warp speed, and into the "read only zone"... And his last post just got swallowed up in the administrators' black hole.

ekpolk, thanks. HK Phooey has been riding the line if you read his last posts. Trolling is his game.

Yup,I get a kick outta you people on this forum that think just because you, yourself have a poor UOA,that everyone should just jump on the bandwagon of hating a certain oil.Get over it! If a oil works for a particular vehicle, then so be it.

HUH? Amazing....I am not asking anybody to jump anywhere...I am stating this is my experience based on used oil analysis. Incrdible....as for the Terry quote...go back to square one...do not collect $200...Terry is saying the diesel oil "Longrider" is good...then he goes on and CLEARLY states "trust your used oil analysis"...not quite a ringing endorsement friend. I agree with you on one point however...."some people on this forum............."

First three words from the quote, "Their products are excellent."

Yes he did type that and as I pointed out the very next words he types were " Trust your used oil analysis"
I took him for his word...didnt listen to some of it but listened to all of what Terry had to say and had used oil analysis that came back ____ with Royal Purple. And I'm not alone obviously am I? Hey if you want to pour RP in your sump by all means have a blast...I'm not asking anybody to jump on any bandwagon nor bashing RP....just sharing my experience backed up by used oil analysis in my motor.....I'm not dissecting Dyson's comments and only reading and understanding parts of them....but all of them.

This was my preferred oil way back when:
