Ran in the car for 8200km. Paired with Mobil 1 full synthetic. I would've cut it apart but drain plug broke in half (I probably over-tightened it but usual Dorman garbage) so that was more of a concern.

A Fram Synthetic Endurance FE10246 & some Castrol Magnatec 5w-30 went in. 250 000km on the engine.

Go to do maintenance & end up breaking something along the way is just the way it goes sometimes. Thanks for sharing your Rough Napa Gold. (y)

I hope you got a few of those Endurances while you still can, because they might not be making them anymore due to the whole first brands thing :sneaky:

FWIW, the OEM filer is the Hengst E611H, though the Mann HU 612/2X is also good.
I'm actually up in Canada, so they were never sold here. There was a shipment of extra guards that came about a year ago that actually contained these. This was the last of my little stockpile.

I've actually got a hengst to go in it next 😉. $5 on RA is a good deal on them, locally they go for more than an AcDelco it's nuts.

Is that one of those magnetic drain plugs? If so, I would never use something like that.
Nope it's a standard Dorman HELP! Oem replacement. Hails from China. GM OEM plugs for this application hail from Germany, same weird torx head though.

Aftermarket ones for those Hengst GM cartridge style oil filter housings are always just a touch too long I think. I’ve never had an OEM GM filter come out looking like that.
