When I used AMSOIL I was getting 24.9 mpg over the course of 7500 miles and with now with the T6 I'm averaging 22.8 mpg. My drive is 40 miles round trip all back roads average speed of 40-45 mph. So for me the 2 mpg is worth the added cost of AMSOIL. So if I did the math correctly the difference in fuel per year is 658 to 602 and at $3.10 a gallon close to a $175 in fuel savings and AMSOIL is a great product.
OK, I'm all for being frugal - trust me - but I don't understand owning an S60R (not an econobox) and deciding between SSO (a thin 10cSt 0W30) and T6 (a 14+cSt 5W40 HDEO) based on a financial calculation revolving around fuel economy and the cost of the oil.
Not to take anything away from SSO but SSO and T6 are TOTALLY different oils. What does the S60R call for? What's better for its long term performance and longevity? Based on its performance specs, if it were mine I wouldn't be leaning in the SSO direction, I can tell you that...
