Restore and protect opinions

Put Valvoline Restore and Protect in 2019 Sonata 2.4 I just bought. It had 23K miles on it and recent oil change. I Immediately swapped in Valvoline Restore and Protect.
2K miles later not a single drop of oil consumed. I don't have any history on the car prior other than servicing intervals, so prior consumption is unknown.

Not trying to be rude, but that does not support Valvoline Restore and Protect's case whatsoever.

You had no history of oil consumption. And you claim there is still none.
The vehicle only has 23K on it so without pulling at least the valve covers we're to assume that it's fairly clean and doesn't need Valvoline Restore and Protect. Try back with a car with good amount of sludge, varnish, sticky piston rings, and/or excessive mileage.

Based on the information we have, I think I would have put Valvoline Restore and Protect in that car too. I hope Valvoline Restore and Protect keeps things under control, so you can enjoy it al long time!

I just did an oil change with Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30 in my accord just because I wanted to. Little over 86K miles on car. Will do an oil/filter change with it again to get the “double flush” before winter really hits up here and do a test on that sample in the summer.

It was around $10 more than what I normally use but I can afford the extra $20 or so a year

This isn't a flush product that I think many are expecting. You need to run the oil at least one full OCI, maybe more. They could have designed it to be more aggressive, but that would be a disaster for end user.

Well the “double flush” that I was referring to was to run the Valvoline Restore and Protect for an oci, then run it again for another oci then run a sample on that so as to not potentially skew the results by having a different brand oil in there.

Makes sense. I think people are expecting this product to act like a flush when it's not designed to work that way at all.

i use this stuff extensively. it has been part of the help to stop 1 of my accords from burning oil completely and the other has been slowing down considerably and reduced smoking. i like to couple this stuff with HPL Engine Cleaner 30. the ultimate cleaning setup.

Maybe I should have worded it differently. I’m going to run it twice and then do a sample. Not really a double flush. See what LS jr started

Has anybody actually run this long enough yet to see legitimate decreasing of oil consumption in an engine with sticking rings/low compression?

Preach it brother.

Almost everyone here that changes their own oil has a preference and even though many people here will mercilessly pound you over the head with data that shows that "my oil is the best oil" - at the end of the day their preferred oil is preferred because they WANT IT.

See how I made the word 'almost' really big and bold? Also the word 'many' - if you aren't one of the almost and many, then this doesn't apply to you and you don't need to launch a diatribe telling me WHY YOUR OIL IS THE BEST. Peace. I still have some pitchforks and torches for sale if you want to storm my castle.
