Brake cleaner this type of brush works well. They're cheap enough so buy a few. They're a lot faster than rags. I use them along with a rag and brake cleaner for cleaning pulleys up.

sometimes new belts sqeal until they wear in, I've always just used dust to fix it (in Arizona there's literal puddles of dust in the desert) talcum powder would probably work too.
