I'm considering switching to Redline now that it looks like AZ is not stocking GC anymore

. I've heard some comments about Redline but could not find anything definitive through the search function. Is Redline ok for a street machine with drain intervals in the 8-10k mile range? The car is a MINI Cooper S that is pushing near 15 lbs of boost at redline. I already use their MTL and am very impressed with it. I plan on keeping this car for a long time so I want an oil that's going to keep it running strong. Any comments are welcome.

I think it's a good choice for your car based on what you have said. Just make sure you have Terry look at a UOA of it.

I have used Redline in hard driven daily drivers for many many years. 8K OCI is fine and I've tested up to 10K OCI and Redline looked great.

Call Redline and talk to dave and get his advice as to which weight oil to use.

I'm just about to order a few cases of Redline right now...good stuff. And it is better than GC in many ways....IMHO.

I wish Redline made a 0W-30..but Redline 5W-30 is close enough, and oil consumption is lower than GC since it is less volatile..

Great for boosted cars. I would not go that long
on the change though. Around 5K at first

Works great. Keep an eye on those UOA for the first couple changes as they may be a bit scary at first but should settle down to almost nothing after a couple of OCI.

I know a guy that swears by RP in his turbo Subaru that has 340+ hp on the ground. I'm sure RL is great as well.

RP is PAO and Group I with RP's Synerlec additive.

Redline is Group V Polyol Ester with some PAO and a lot of Moly and probably ZDDP. But overall a lower % of additives.

POE doesn't need Viscosity Improvers...with the exception perhaps of the 5W-40.

POE handles high temps very well and doesn't shear or oxidize.

POE also behaves dynamically like a thicker oil, and has a low evaporation rate.

So Redline is a unique oil, and my experience using Redline in street cas has been very positive. I think that I drive cars hard and I think Redline is better than any other oil I've tried.

I see lower oil temps, lower oil consumption, and the engines run much smoother even at WOT with Redline. The UOA's have been good with Redline and the engines have held up beautifully even with hundreds of thousands of miles of hard driving.

I still have 40 quarts of GC 0W-30 to use up and some Elf 0W-30 to try....as well as 60 qts of Pennzoil Platinum. And I need to order some of the Amsoil 0W-20 and their filters. But I just ordered 72 quarts of various Redline oils and gear lubes. Redline is still my favorite.

I also like the Specialty Formulations MTL I tried, but it is not available right, but the Redline gear lubes have always been great.

I've always had good luck with Redline products.

Of the ester based oils which would anyone recommend as
the best: Motul, Redline, Maxima, Torco?
I am running Amsoil Euro 5W-40 in my 07 SRT8 Jeep
at this time and will analyse after 3K.
Am just looking for the best for this great engine.
It does run warm, about 230 F oil temp after highway
driving.
Thanks,
Craig

maxima tech support gave me that info about the best ester oils.he mentioned redline, motul, of course maxima..he said they add just a tad to compliment ester oils...very nice people to speak with very informative and was not trying to push their product.

Thanks for the suggestions

. Sorry I couldn't respond any sooner but I was down in Sebring for the 12 hour race (

the R10 is amazing). From the suggestions here, I think I'll give Redline a try. It does seem to suit my situation.

I ran it in my sludgy SAAB 9-5 2.3l turbo for one change (5,500 miles) and nothing blew up.

I also question the need for a first, short interval as my filter didn't even show as much goo as my arx treatments.
