Hi all (new to forum), Does anyone know if Redline D4 ATF is directly compatible with Honda Z1 ATF (or DW-1)? I have a Honda friend that wants her ATF changed and I am inquiring if the Redline D4 (what I use in my Honda) is compatible for a drain/refill ( ~3 qt.), without a flush of the system. Thanks.

In reading the forum, I've heard of plenty of Honda owners being very satisfied with Valvoline Maxlife. I know you're asking about Redline, but just something to note. And Maxlife is a full syn.

I took the suggestionsand talked with Redline and they said their D4 ATF would be compatible with the Honda Z1 ATF. Thanks.

I've got it in my 1996 Honda Accord. I changed to the Redline at about 60,000 miles (previous changes were Z-1) and again at 95,000 miles. I added a bottle of Lubegard Red the first time and the last time added a bottle of Lubegard Black (maybe not even necessary...shifts nice and smooth with both...can't notice any difference). I do a total of 3 drain and fills each time with a few miles between each drain (you're looking at about $100 or so for the fluid if you're going to drain it 3 times). Shifting is MUCH better than it was with the Z-1 plus it's a quality synthetic fluid. I intend to continue using it (although I may extend the next change to 45,000 miles) and recommend it highly...good stuff.
