I've got another UOA that was done 10000 miles earlier. Also based on the same oil, ie. REDLINE 5W40.

Would appreciate your intepretation for this too!

Nice to see another 4g15 here! I have a 92 Mitsu Mirage non turbo. Redline UOAs are a bit tricky. No potassium in your UOA. Wear isn't out of line. Are you using a KN air filter? if so, it's been shown here with UOA's paper air filters are better. how many miles do you have on your 4g15?

I was gonna ask the same thing. Si is higher than you'd like in both samples.

Don't know what the averages for this engine are. Couple observations: Aluminum is 3x higher in the shorter sample. Lead was 22 in the longer sample, but only 0.6 in the shorter one? I'm curious to see what the experts would make of those two items. Iron tracked with miles, presumably those are ok numbers for this engine?

Just as others have said regarding Redline--the first UOA shows high lead and the subsequent UOAs show much better wear results.

I wonder if this happens with other ester-based oils or those with higher percentage additive components, as well.

The most recent one looks fine overall. The previous one show the cleaning that Redline was still doing. The silicone is a bit high but I do not rember how much silicone Reline use's for anti foam at the moment. I want to say it is between 12-19 PPM. So I will have to look that up before I get too alarmed at the silicone. I would look for any leaks or a bad filter just to play it safe! With this much silicone though if it were all dirt I would expect to see lead, chromium and iron much higher then it is.
