I own a 2009 Cadillac CTS,can i use the Redline oil and be sure its good for the timing chain issue this car has, or am I better of with some other Dexos 1 oil?
been using the rd for 6 months now.

As Speak2Mountain said, RL is overkill for this application. Actually, it is overkill for most normal cars and driving conditions. Any Dexos1 oil will be fine for the CTS in non-race situations.

However, if your car consumes oil like my 07 CTS did (1qt/1k miles), it may be good to switch to HM. I recently switched to Pennzoil Plat HM and the consumption is virtually gone. It now uses about .5qt/3k miles. Pennzoil Plat HM is not Dexos1 certified, in case that matters to you.

I need to ask what made you decide to use Redline oil and why the concern of the lack of Redline's ability to protect the timing chain setup?

Of course not. All this talk about zinc levels over 800 ppm damaging cats is IMO horse hockey. Cats have been around since the 80's when zinc levels in oil were much higher, Euro cars still use oil containing 1100-1200 ppm zinc today and their cats have to meet the same performance and warranty standards as all the others if the car is sold in the USA.
Redline 5w30 has a higher HTHS and a good dose of zinc so it should be a great oil for the 3.6 which is spec for dexos 2 in other countries where surprisingly they didn't have chain issues like the US.

listen to this yall, in israel we pay 25$ a quart!!!!!! for the rd

One has to wonder. The OP has been using Redline for six months and now he asks if it's okay?

I suspect a reincarnation.

meaning?

and whats the problem with using something for maybe3000miles and then asking about it

Dexos approved is irrelevant on a 2009 car anyway, the spec didn't come out until 2011.
