It’s about keeping the rings/ ring grooves clean, not some varnish on the inside of the valve cover. That’s where VRP, HPL, Amsoil come into play.I’d give the Restore and Protect a try, but keep in mind that engine shouldn’t need cleaning at only 16,500 miles using Mobil1 EP every 7,500 miles. I’ve been using Mobil1 EP in my Toyota for 162,000 miles…been considering the Restore and Protect but part of me wonders why? The engine is spotless. Mobil1 EP already is an oil capable of keeping things clean. But this is an oil site, I’m an oil junky…part of me wants to run a conventional oil for a year just so I can clean it out with the Restore and Protect.Let’s face it…there’s something wrong with all of us here.
To be clear I didn’t say truck and suv wasn’t dexos.Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5W-30 IS Dexos 1 Gen 3 approved...I've used it in GM products without issue (bothe the LTG 2.0T and the 3.6 DI V6)...

And you’re telling me Mobil1 EP isn’t already doing that? It’s about keeping the rings/ ring grooves clean, not some varnish on the inside of the valve cover. That’s where VRP, HPL, Amsoil come into play.
I stand corrected...I misread your earlier response...good luck with your choiceTo be clear I didn’t say truck and suv wasn’t dexos.
Technically, it would be HPL Premium PCEO 0W-20.HPL PCMO 0W-20
does Walmart have some cash back on the M1 ESP???...that is a better price than Walmart near me, $27.97 ...good job!On deck is esp 0w30. Bought some today. 23.99 after Walmart cash back.
Thanks for the clarification. I couldn't find 0W-20 HPL PCMO/PCEO on their website. It appears that the 0W- xx viscosity oils that they offer are in their Premium and Premium Plus lines only.Technically, it would be HPL Premium PCEO 0W-20.
Been using HPL Premium 0W-20 in my wife's Mazda CX-90 for the last 15K miles and sent it off for analysis yesterday. Obviously a totally different car and totally different engine (inline 6 turbo). Thanks for the clarification. I couldn't find 0W-20 HPL PCMO/PCEO on their website. It appears that the 0W- xx viscosity oils that they offer are in their Premium and Premium Plus lines only.
Not true. 3k intervals with a lower tier synthetic oil will result in your engine having more deposits than if you had run a higher quality oil for 6k intervals.I would do 3k oil change interval with a lower cost oil like Kirkland or Supertech. Low mileage intervals don't require the ultimate oil. Any your engine stays cleaner.
WM now has M1 0W30 ESP and M1 5W30 ESP side by side on the shelf for $28 per jug … Now to decide which flavor M1 ESP to buy ?You wanna own a turbo gdi dohc GM engine for the long run? Nothing but 30/40 grade euro oil changed at 5k or less is the only thing I'd be doing. M1 esp 5w-30 is a great oil and walmart just began selling it in store and online too. HPL is great but I don't think its necessary. Don't care if it's under warranty they won't scrutinize receipts to see if it's dexos or uoa it. I've been running euro oil in my 6.2 instead of 0w-20 for most of its life which is still under warranty today and that engine needs it less than these turbo mills gm makes.
