Mobil 1 ESP Cleaning Ability/ BG EPR

What would you do if you owned a diesel? They turn the oil black immediately after you change it. Color is never an indication of the oil being in need of a change
I had a 2000 7.3 psd for over 20 yrs. The dipstick gave the appearance of dirty oil but the oil itself was never that bad. I followed the manual and changed it every 5k and it was never horrible. My son now has the truck for his roofing business and I shake my head when I pull the dipstick. When I gave it to him it had 137k easy miles. I spent more time lifting the hood than I actually did working on it. Outside of fuel lines. Air filters and fuel filter played a huge part in the PSD.

36xx miles well past the half way point in this OCI and the color is still pretty light. Coming up on 4k then a change at 5k. I wonder if color will continue to darken or if this is where it will stay. This is a touch lighter than what my oil looked like on my older port injection cars when changed at 5k. As I get closer to 5k I need to make a decision. I'm thinking 5W40 for the summer and 0W30 for the winter. With my driving habits/mileage I think a 5W40 change around May when the weather gets nice and I'm driving more aggresively. Then in November/December 0W30 to get that winter temperature protection. 2 5K OCIs per year with potentially a 3rd if I really get out for some summer road trips or hit a track day. I did also find one last BG EPR can from my Equinox. I thought I used it up but this is for sure the last one. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to use when I change the oil so I plan to do so.
M1 ESP 0W30 for winter and
M1 Euro 5W40 for summer?

I am not sure why the photo did not upload so I am trying again.
