If you're looking for bang-for-the-buck in an off-the-shelf oil, you can't beat Castrol Syntec 0w-30 or Mobil 1 0w-40. I probably would prefer the Mobil 1 0w-40 for your particular application, but both are great oils and have the OEM approvals to prove it.

Well, this guy ^up here^ summed it up quite well. GC 0w-30 is a good choice. Mobil 1 0w-40 would also do it. I don't know what particular specs your Audi requires (mine is old enough and just goes by API specs and no proprietary ones). I would assume that the manual calls for a thicker oil.

Other choices include HDEOs of almost any brand, conventional or synthetic. Rotella, Delo, and Delvac come to mind. There's nothing wrong with Royal Purple for that application, either (HDEO or PCMO), but you'll be paying for it.

You mentioned Pennzoil, and they make some very fine oils.

I assume you have an oil temperature gauge. What oil temperatures are you getting after a sustained high boost run? With my 200 Turbo, I don't think I've ever even exceeded 212 F, even with a long, high boost run.

"IF" you could locate the Pennzoil Ultra European 5W-40 I would recommend it, but you can't so write it off.

I would go to my local Walmart and purchase the Mobil 1 0W-40. It is an excellent oil.

This was just covered at length.

The difference is this guy was in the far Northeast.

For your climate, a good 5w-40 for winter like Shell Rotella T.

Mid summer, I would def recommend a 50 weight, esp if you see oil temps in excess of +210f.

The best 50 weight I know you can get easily is SynPower 20w-50, there is even an R version if you look, just don't run the racing oil too long, like 3k.

0w oils are NOT the ticket in a turbo S4 in summmer.

The Syntec 5w-50 is a great product, that's what my BOSCH shop uses. Not too many drawbacks, but I'd prefer the SynPower. 5w-40 would serve you better in winter though.

I really hope Pennzoil is serious about making it "more available."

if you don't track your car GC , M1 0w-40 or 5w-40 shell rotella would be more than fine..no need to use 50wt oil
