Reclaimed Oil for push mower.

I burn all my used motor oil in my 2019 denali diesel.

Oh, its had a 12v Cummins swapped in from 1992 and had 700k miles on it before installed.

Came with auto rust- stop.

Please show and explain how you are filtering it. Also I have noticed synthetic oil does not like to burn too well, is that an issue?

If you plan on keeping those machines, used oil is not the way to go. 20 oz's / 1/2 qt tops depending on the size of the engine. Just not worth it. You'll coke the rings in no time, and it will become a burner. Cheap oil is cheap enough. At least it's new. Unless these are all trash picked machines, you're throwing money to the wind. That oil in those little engines goes black from heat in no time. Air cooled. To each his own. Not my cup o Joe though.

after fuel tank, on the frame i hung a couple of spin on fuel filters in series before reaching the high pressure pump. Nothing scientific. The more oil i pour in, the more diesel fuel i try and match. I kinda eyeball it. "glug glug, that's good enough".

I wish the dash lights and keyfob worked too. Oh well.

It's not complicated. Remember, it's a diesel engine using techy techy from back in the 1980's. 1 wire fuel fire and done. I just wanted a nice clean frame/body, without all the stupid emissions and fancy Can-bus ********. Nope, i don't lock the doors or use the alarm. They dont work either. Alot of stuff doesn't...well, nothing works with the computer missing.

I did find a really nice $30 triple gauge set from scamazon i zip screwed to the dash. Oil, temp, and charge. What more does a man need to drive a **** vehicle?

Kids these days...need bluetooth, wifi, gps, infotainment, backup camera, blah blah blah and all that fancy dumb ****.

I loved those triple gauge sets ! Had them in all my 70's & 80's cars. Those stupid idiot lights don't tell you anything ! I used to mount them under the ash tray, remember those ??? I even had a 4 gauge set that told me the trans temp ! This way I knew how far I could push it, and beat the death out of it ! :) Most only had one driver side mirror, electric rear defrost was a treat, hand crank windows, usually with a vice grip because the handle broke, no power door locks, no alarm., no trunk opener,. One key for ignition, one key for door lock. If the headliner started sagging, just got the staple gun after it. AND, no stupid flap in the gas tank. Someone wanted to steal gas, I got a lockable gas cap. I was happy as a pig in sh-t !!!! :)

Gylicerin gauges are the best. Watch oil pressure needle flutter with each plug fire

Sorry about the quote,i can't seem to delete the previous draft wrap

It's your equipment do what you but your take on being cheap is severely flawed.
OIl $30 for a jug of good stuff.
replacing lawn mower $$$$

I don't know about you but I biy the $99 push mowers.

I'm always bending crank snouts finding rocks and sticks.

Last year I hit some steel tubing buried in the grass. Shot out across the yard like a 12 foot torpedo.

Dropped it off at padnos, mower and tubing, then bought a brand new one on the way home.

They're cars and trucks man. They make new ones everyday.

You too fancy for me Chorty. No glycerin gauges for me. Just you're off the shelf junk. But, now that you're talking about it, they would have been nice to look at, then run into a tree because you're too busy lookin at the gauges. I had the ones with the little back light in them that would burn out in a few weeks.

He never said anything about $99 mowers
And good for you if that's what you buy !

It doesn't get black from the heat. Have you ever measured the oil temperature in a lawnmower?
Cheaper oil still cost more than free oil and still have to dispose of fresh oil.

Many more smart uses for used oil that putting it into a diff crankcase.
We had lots of oil from a variety of farm machinery that never went to waste.

We'd filter it from barrel to barrel with frantz type filters then it would take a split path.
1. It got cut with kerosene to reuse it as fuel for barn heaters, smudge pots, "small" long running diesel water pumps
2. cleaned uncut oil got reused on things like external chains on grain elevators and any kind of total loss general lubing

OK :) Not gonna go back and forth on this discussion. Do as you please, and I'll do as I please. Best of luck to the both of us :)
You can’t explain or reason with him. Which is why I gave up. He’s crazy and won’t listen. Cheap oil is better than filthy oil. You just can’t reach know it all people I tell ya

How is it "filthy oil" when I oil test it and it comes back in at least fair condition besides some fuel dilution and viscosity loss?

Yep ...they called " IKE" ( I know everything ) Whatev........Don't care... Tomatoe / Tomattoe ----Potatoe / Potattoe
Doing an oil test is almost like knowing everything when it comes to used oil.
The oil that dumps out of my Nissan leaf is bad enough I would only put that oil in my coal furnace.
Over all the oil that comes out of my wife's hybrid isn't terrible.

I also do not understand the reasoning behind doing this. Go buy a QT of mobil1 or Amsoil and run that a few years instead of puttung used oil in it .
I do. The used oil goes in free mowers that I accumulate that don't even know if they'll start. No point in topping off a mower that turns out to be a dud with new oil I paid money for. Then once I know they run I'll dump what's in there and fill it up with more used oil, run it enough to test it out, dump it again and fill it with new oil. That way I'm only putting new oil that costs money in known good mowers.
