what I find interesting is my push mower (yard machine) has never had an oil change. it's been 21 years on the same oil and it looks great still. yes looks aren't everything. still runs great. no desire to change it.
Used oil is free fuel. And that is what you do by giving it to the auto parts store, it is mainly used to mix with bunker oil for ships etc. at least that was the case in years past. Used acidic dirty oil is not for lubrication.
Except it tests decent. Still have some tbn left. From what I can find oil ran in daily driver cars has to be ran at least 300hrs before it even gets close to turning acidic.
My reclaim oil is only ran for 90 to 120hrs.
Also its not dirty, after it's sat for a month I can't see any single micron particles under my microscope when i pull a sample. What i can see is a layer of dirt on the bottom of the jug when I pour out the last half quart into the combustion grade oil jug or my log soaking oil trough.
