Yes, because that is the expectation when one sits in a Camry.Maybe it was sportier than expected.
Yes.Are you aware that the Goodyear acquired Cooper tires in 2021?
Don’t forget to bump ‘er up to 0W-16 for track daysYes, because that is the expectation when one sits in a Camry.
Agree, Consumer Reports is a joke most of the time, Cooper Tires, The Discoverer line was a very good line of tires. I always liked Cooper over Goodyear when they were separate companies. I believe Goodyear/Cooper are the only USA owned tire company.Consumer Reports![]()
While Goodyear probably isn’t using their best tread designs or rubber compounds for the Cooper line, I assume they’re applying some of their technology to protect the Goodyear reputation and quality standards. So although Cooper isn’t the top priority, the tires are likely seeing some positive changes now that Goodyear owns the brand.Yes.
All of the leading tire companies have, at one time or another, acquired many other tire brands. Cooper is to Goodyear as BF Goodrich is to Michelin, and General is to Continental, and Firestone is to Bridgestone. All of these tire companies recognize that there are those that are not going to buy a premium tire, but why miss out on selling them a tire? All of these top tier tire companies own multiple other brands, so they can profit from multiple different markets.
You don't really think that just because Goodyear owns Cooper, that they are putting the same advanced tire designs that go into premium tires, into Cooper tires, do you? That would defeat the purpose of offering tires for different markets.
Michelin owns a lower rated brand so not uncommon. Are you aware that the Goodyear acquired Cooper tires in 2021?
I can’t comment on their pricing strategy, but this isn’t the only instance where a potentially inferior product is priced improperly. A higher price doesn’t guarantee quality, and vice versa (e.g., Mobil ESP 0w-30 is inexpensive but high-quality).So if the thinking is Cooper is not a top tier tire then why is it priced as if was? Around the same price as Michelin?
Kelly for example is not a top tier but is not priced like a top tier.
If I got a Cooper 60K mile rated tire can I expect it to go 60K miles.
You get what you pay for. With top rated comes top $.
Most of the time yes. But it depends on your use case and Return On Investment (ROI).You get what you pay for.

I didn't know Discount Tire had their own branded tires. I've never seen them in any of my online searches, or in their stores.I will say driving to work last night in 2 degree Fahrenheit temps my Discount Tire brand tires were not particularly great. The roads were plowed with a dusting of snow and the abs kept kicking in. They definitely aren't Continentals by any stretch.
Give us some examples of the Cooper tires that you are comparing to Michelin. So if the thinking is Cooper is not a top tier tire then why is it priced as if was? Around the same price as Michelin?

Cooper Discoverer Stronghold AT. $345 at BJ. Mounting is mostly free. It varies but often it's free.Give us some examples of the Cooper tires that you are comparing to Michelin.
When I was shopping for F-150 tires, the Cooper Pro Control was significantly lower in price than the Wrangler Steadfast H/T. Both were the top line of highway truck tires.
Also, the top line Goodyear was much lower in price than the equivalent Michelin.
I would assume that these are LT tires with an E load rating.Cooper Discoverer Stronghold AT. $345 at BJ. Mounting is mostly free. It varies but often it's free.
Similar Michelin that are a blend of all terrain and all terrain are about $350 to $370 at BJs. So close to the same price. 275 70 18 size.
I had a son-in-law in Goldsboro NC but USAF told him he is needed more in Louisiana so he is moving there this weekend (and not too happy about it).I would assume that these are LT tires with an E load rating.
I told you in another thread that your Ford dealer will beat anyone's prices.
Too bad you don't live near Lincoln, NC.

The taxes and fees are included it that price. I don't live in NC. I follow this guy on Instagram. Why don't you screenshot those three photos and show them to your Ford dealer. I imagine that he will match the price.I had a son-in-law in Goldsboro NC but USAF told him he is needed more in Louisiana so he is moving there this weekend (and not too happy about it).
But daughter has decided to move to Wilmington NC so I will have a daughter in NC in 6 months.
Those prices are a lot less than BJs. How's the sales sales tax in NC? DE has none.
