Yeah, back in the day my brother had a 96 GMC Jimmy that we brought to a Firestone lube place. They sprayed belt dressing all over the belt and it went all over the hood as a disgusting black crud and when we went to pick it up it squealed like a pig, and their "courtesy check" section said "Needs new belt". The belt hadn't squeaked at all before then and there were no signs of cracks or missing ribs. It seems that all too often places try to go above and beyond and thats where they can screw up too. We've had better luck with other quick lube places, I've always checked the dipstick and filter before leaving those places to make sure everything is how it should be.
I do all of the fluid changes for my vehicles on my own now and have done most repairs and other maintenence(brake jobs, etc.) myself.

I'm pretty happy with the service I have got at WalMart. Are there enough oil choices there or what? BYO filter if needed.
The Dodge dealer did that to my Dakota one time, and what really amazed me is that the cap was still under the hood a week and 300+ miles later! Somehow the "tech" got oil or grease on the top and when he laid it on the fuse block under the hood, it actually stuck there.
I don't change the oil on my son's truck because the filter is a bear to manipulate, so I send him to quick lubes WITH GC of the right quantity in hand. Last change he came home 1 qt short. Bye bye quality, bye bye conscientious work effort.
A fellow employee's husband took her Honda to Pep Boys for oil change. They forgot to fill the oil. Car died 1 mile down the road. I guess the idiot didn't notice the idiot light.
Pepboys dropped the oil pan and showed them that there were no metal shavings or flakes in the oil pan and that their car was ok. I tried to give her advice to sue for a new or rebuilt engine but some people are just clueless.
