Big Lots has this oil for $3 a quart. i was thinking of changing over as that is the price i pay for reg. oil. i have some extra puralator oil filters for all of my vehicles and was wondering if they would work together. What frequency should i change it. I now change it every 4k miles. It would be going into a 2006 G6 33k, 2004 Buick Rainier (Trailblazer) 72k, and a 1995 Impala SS 95k. Thank you

If you are changing from dino to synthetic for the first time, you should do a fairly short OCI (oil change interval) at around 6-7k miles, then extend to 8-10k miles or 1 year. Purolator Classic filter is okay for any OCI up to 8-10k miles if your engine is fairly clean.

I respectfully disagree with this "blanket" assertion (but it is due to a blanket question). These are all different engines and have different characteristics. QSUD is a great oil (no question) but this question is very hard to answer.

To make it simple and SAFER, I would not do more than 6-7k 6mo. OCI's on these vehicles.

If you give some specifics on the type of driving you do in each car and the Highway/city ratio it is a little easier.

If you really care do UOA's at 6k, if not don't extend too much more than what you usually do. You got a bargain anyway, the stuff isn't a miracle oil.

$3 a quart? Thats a good buy. Dont waste it on 4ks though. Puro Classics are good filters, dont doubt them. Buy every quart they have. Im not kidding. If you are a true member to this site youll buy every bottle of it then display them on a shelf in your house in which youll gaze upon with glory whenever you pass by their presence. Yep you gotta be harcore to be on BITOG.

tedtech,

For the price you quoted/$3 that's a fantastic price and would not hesitate in getting it in a heart beat! Quaker State synthetic is an excellent synthetic oil and would go an easy 6K OCI's. In my 08' Impala SS I just use the OLM and go with the dealerships oil recommendation which is currently M1. As I've been told by many on this forum most if not all the oils will go much farther than we use to think so in the past. Go the distance and get your moneys worth.

Both the g6 and rainier get about 6 k miles per year. The impala about 1k per year. It has turned into a garage queen and looks the part if I do say so myself.

$3/quart synthetic anything is a good deal. You should go back and buy quite a few IMHO.

Need to shop at big lots more often....

You could do 1 year oil change for G6 and Rainier, and 2 years for Impala.

That's kind of what I was aiming for and wasn't sure If that would be acceptable

Accel was all I saw in my local store as well. But then I turned around and on the aisle endcap they had QSUD in 10w30, 5w30, and 0W-20. They had over 40 bottles of the 0W-20. However the price was $4. All was SM. I passed simply because the 5 qt. jug can be had at Wally World for $19.53. ( I don't use 0W-20)

AND you'll post a picture of you in front of your synthetic oil shrine!
