Has anyone noticed that this oil has a pour point of -54C?
Is this a typo?
Has to be the lowest point point I have ever seen in a 1

10w30 oil.

Yeah it's been noted before here and a few other threads.

It that is not a typo then it is a very good example of how pour point doesn't properly represent cold weather performance.

Pour point tests us done in sets of 3c / 5f ish.

It may have just been that sample, the base oil was a tiny bit better that day. Or the additive was sliiigtly different. Etc.

So it passed the next ~2 pour levels.


But yeah, the cold pour point test is… not a great test.

Calcium doesn't clean, it's a detergent, it prevents deposits from forming, while it also neutralizes acids.
