QS Euro VS Napa Euro 5w-40 Ferrari F430

That really makes no sense. What additives are being banned?
Yes, if anything, I think this would be more likely to be preservation of an existing additive package since Ferrari didn’t want to validate updates. Kind of like the theory that Porsche is staying on X3 which becomes the GT oil instead of moving it to X4 for DLC compatibility.

Here comes something different. I’ve had a Ferrari F430 for years, and have used various 5w-40 oils. It gets changed every 4,000-5,500 miles. Unlike most, I actually drive it a bunch. I’ll hit 70k miles in the coming weeks, and plan to start driving it even more.

I don’t use it on a race track, but it does see spirited canyon style driving from time to time.

Looking to stock up on oil, and QS Euro 5w-40 is $22 a gallon at Wallyworld, and Napa Euro 5w-40 is currently $4.79 per quart. I’ve reached the point in life where I feel super pricey boutique oils are a rip off.

Between these two, which is the better oil?
Eh with an engine rebuild in the 50k plus I don't think any botique oils should be off the table. I think they come with Shell Helix ultra from the factory. Oh pics please. It's nice to see a Ferrari owner actually drive it vs leave it in the garage.

Why do you believe he will require an engine rebuild after 50k miles. Unless abused, (like any other car) they are capable of high miles.
I sold my 1997 F355 spider with 63k miles, ran like a top (dealer serviced). We have local club members with high mileage Ferraris. My friend William has over 125,000 miles on his 2013 F458 and Will has over 115,000 miles on his 1992 512TR. None of these cars have ever had an engine rebuild. I know of F430 owners with 50k+ and 70k+ miles...no rebuilds.

Do Ferraris require engine rebuilds more often than more common cars? Sure, I've heard of it...but after over 24 years of Ferrari ownership through four cars and mingling with fellow owners all these years, I can't think of anyone requiring an engine rebuild. It is not that common. Stuff for sure breaks more often, we've all have all had occasional stuff fail that doesn't commonly do so on a Honda...a radiator fan, an exhaust manifold. Clutches seem to not last nearly as long on the single clutch cars (30k to 50k). Whereas the dual clutch cars clutches seem to last and last.

The Pennzoil Euro PDS is not current. However the additive package would be different if they weren't the same. So we have a VOA for both?

Here's the current one.

Do we have a VOA for both? Because even the updated PDF you provided still has the same specs as the one I posted.

Seems like it would be a stretch for the two oils to not be the exact same if the specs are 100% similar to each other.

Sure it's possible but I would want to look at the addpack as base stock composition would indicate whether they were using Gr3 in one and GTL in the other.

You’ll need FTIR to know if the base is different. The German oil club would have it but they don’t get QS.

I confirmed with Shell. They are NOT the same. QS is "crude oil" aka Gr3 and Pennzoil is GTL (Gr3+).

he's saying the rebuild would cost $50k

Is Platinum Racing an A3/B4 oil like Platinum Euro?

Wondering what other readily available oils for those of us that DIY would be appropriate and perhaps even more protective.

Amsoil FS Euro? Motul 8100 Xcess? Ravenol VST? Other?

Thanks. So yes, A3/B3 A3/B4.

I don’t see HTHS value though.
The Ravenol is going to be the highest most likely. I don’t see any reason to believe the PP Racing is anything but the SN+ version of the PP Euro.
