Purolator Synthetic - worth considering?

Went to the purolator website today and noticed their touting a new "Synthetic" filter line. Though they only state 99% efficiency as opposed to 99.9% for PureONE. Does anyone have any more info about these? I'm thinking of sticking with the PL14610 but always like hearing about new products.

They're a LOT more than the Fram Ultra, and unless you're extending your oil changes past 10K, not sure they're worth the extra $.

Not worth it considering the cost of it's competitor. Try a Fram Ultra if you are doing extended OCIs.

I use the P1 often and at $6-7 I don't see the benefit of the muvh higher price over the P1 so I'd say no.

Fact is, if you like Royal Purple oils, Amazon has an RP synthetic filter free with purchase of an (admittedly expensive) jug or gallon of RP.

No its not worth considering. You can get a Fram Ultra for under $9 at Walmart and its good for 15K OCI's.

I have the Purolator Synthetic oil filter on my car now. It's nice and heavy with good texture paint. (The Fram Ultra I need around here have the paint flaking off for some reason.) Planning to run it for 9K and for $10 it's worth it IMO.

I would consider buying Purolator Synthetic oil filters if it they were stocked at my local Walmart or Advance Auto Parts (AAP) store .

They are worth considering if the price is right, but i can buy Fram Ultras for cheaper if i add them to something im already buying on Amazon or Rock Auto, etc.

I run oversized purolator synthetics to 20k. The only reason I'm using them is I bought them in bulk with AAP's online coupon code. Otherwise I'd use a Fram Ultra.

Fram Ultras are usually also 20 micron while the Purolator Synthetics are 30 microns @ 99%

Actually, 99% @ 25 microns.

I'll be sticking with either the Purolator Classic or PureOne. I don't plan on 10K OCIs and can't justify that price tag.

The only scenario where Puro Synthetics pay off is if you are definitely doing a 10k+ OCI. Even then, we have seen a lot of success for Motorcraft going 8k OCIs, which is less than a third of the cost.
