The -could- be just as good. Something to consider is that if Purolator is sourcing filters from India, they are doing it to cut costs. Are they cutting quality at the same tome to further cut costs?
You could get some idea by cutting an Indian and a US Purolator open and taking a good look at the construction and workmanship. India isn't big on making manufactured products look good, so if the internals look well done, then someone is controlling their quality.
Like China, India can make good products. Unfortunately most companies that source product in those countries are into cost cutting big time and won't pay for high quality even at Indian or Chinese rates. Let's hope Purolator is in the minority of US companies that adequately control their turd world manufacturers quality.
