Hyundai/Kia OEM Filter (26300-35505) No Longer Made By Mann? Quality?

I recently bought two of these filters from RockAuto and noticed that they aren't made by Mann-Hummel anymore, but now seem to be made in-house by Hyundai instead. Inspecting it raised quality concerns for me, notably the sloppy white lettering, the Hyundai logo poorly stamped on the bypass valve, and the excess glue on the inside.

I'm not really concerned whether it's real or not since I bought it from RockAuto, but I am curious if there's any quality differences vs. the old ones made by Mann. I for one have never seen the sloppy lettering on any of these filters before, in pictures or in-person, but both of these new ones are like this.

Anyone ever cut one of these new ones open and see? I'll cut mine open after I run an OCI, I just put it on yesterday.

Yep Premium Guard, so the quality and craftsmanship should be good.

That little crease on the bottom of the oil filter in my pics is typical rockauto oil filter merchandise. Something is always awry with their stuff, but it's usually always minor and not endangering anything inside our engines.

At 15 years-old, I got an after-school job at Cancellation Shoes in Hamtramck Michigan (Poletown). Back then in 1967, the retail store name that stood hanging on top of the front entrance / exit door, meant you were wearing shoes that were labeled as being 2nds, rejected by the original manufacturer for full price retail and bought at a reduced price by various vendors .... much like rockauto.

I have purchased many items from rockauto. Just be leery of any oil filters that when you shake the box, they rattle. I've read complaints on this board about such oil filters being shipped to the purchaser that way.
That's a No-No. Don't use those on your rides..

Hyundai/KIA sourced their filters from another company before Mann+Hummel got the contract. They probably went back to the previous supplier.
It’s a genuine Hyundai/KIA part.

One of many reasons why HyunKia's are cheaper than the competition is because of situations like this one - where they accept the contract of the lowest product-priced bidder. From the sounds of it, Premium Guard won the Award and there's no reason to hide under the bed because of it. There's less chance of a ska-ru-up with S. Korean citizens. They take pride in their job / work.

My Hyundai is five years old and the Kia is four years old. Nothing has ever broke on our vehicles. I mean, not even a single rattle inside or out. If it weren't for their highly suspect turbo engines, I'd recommend either brand name as a Best Buy.

Just don't park either vehicle where the Kia Boyz can get to them. Even thou the Recall should lessen the odds for theft, I still don't trust they will remain where I parked them last.

I doubt it is made "In House" per se, possibly just a new contractor making them for Hyundai.

Probably 'Made in NORTH Korea'. Guess there's a reason why it doesn't say 'Made in South Korea' . . . .

M&H has production sources in S. Korea so it may still be made by M&H.

Maybe but I don't think so. OP told "sloppy white lettering, the Hyundai logo poorly stamped
on the bypass valve, and the excess glue on the inside"
before. Why so if it still came from
Mann's South Korean factory?
.

I don’t think that is a Premium Guard made filter. As far as I know PGs all come from Vietnam and China. Base plate is completely wrong for a PG as well as the color of the ADBV.

Lots of possibilities from Korea but this is not a PG IMO.
That was my thought as well & am leaning towards still being M&H sourced.

Could be North could be South LOL but I still assume "Korea" means South Korea since it has most meaning towards South Korea. Here's some people discussing that topic below.

When I do a search it shows 3 M&H locations.

I'd bet this filter is from their MANN+HUMMEL Dongwoo business

I just bought one last week. Looks more like Spedestrian's. No sticker on top, a date code starting with 23, clear printing on can and it mentions Mann Hummel. Weighs 332 grams.
I worked as a hyundai parts manager for 4 years. I've never seen a filter with a sticker. Maybe it's a rockauto thing?

영동산업(주) translates to Young Dong Industrial and the printed phone number corroborates this

They seem to be an OEM
So in this particular instance it appears it's not M&H Korea nor PG but a company called "Young dong"?
