This one was performing duty in my work commute beater a '97 1.6L Corolla filled with Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 for 11mos.

Midway through the OCI I had a problem with the EGR and it started consuming a large amount of oil, but I check the level quite regularly. Added 1qt of makeup (3.2qt total capacity) after unclogging the EGR and extended my usual 8K to ~12.5K. 50/50 city/highway.

~95ish HP and a 3spd auto trans has me mashing the skinny pedal quite often, scantool reports about 3700rpm at typical 70mph highway cruise speed. Still turns out 31mpg!

No complaints, appears to have done its job without any issues.

Slight cracking on the label but the textured paint held up well. Real handy feature for removal on this engine as the filter sits almost directly below the exhaust manifold.

The valve was still pliable and soft.

Two of the pleats got close to one another, and they all appeared to be bending in half in one direction. Media still firmly attached to the ends.

Wonder if the bending has anything to with the spiral shaped support tube behind the media? You can see the tube better in Neptune's post:

Nice filter, especially when AAP puts them on sale occasionally.

Thanks for sharing the pics. With oil and filter technology at its peak, I'm convinced that the engine in my CRV will go 300,000 plus miles; however, I'm just not sure the transmission, chassis, or body will make it that many miles.

Honda seems to have their transmission issues figured out. You live in California, so no rust. And Honda makes great engines.

I'll put electronics failure before mechanical failure / rust.

Wow, I have seen Pureones with far less miles that didn't look near as good. You must have a nice clean engine, good job.

As always, thanks for cutting and posting!

Looks like you got your money's worth out the P1 at ~12.5k mi. As for the slight bending, I think sometimes the pressure of the automated machines pushing the endcaps on the media and/or slight media width differences can cause that bending. That said, you point out the media is still firmly attached at the ends, which is the key. That and the endcaps are still attached, though imo I don't see that as a function compromising flaw.

Thanks for the pics.

Highly doubt the spiral center tube has anything to do with the media warping. Pretty common to get some warped pleats ... yours actually looked pretty straight still. Looks good for that length of run.

I have had good luck with that same filter. Glad to see 12k and results like that!! I changed to it from Kn N.

I wouldn't worry about the pleats bending either. As long as the pleats didn't bend enough to create a crease that would allow unfiltered oil to go through I wouldn't sweat it.

Thanks for cutting and posting!

The filter held up well. Mine will be near 16K when I cut it open in the next coupla weeks and I hope it looks as good. Wavy pleats are more or less a normal situation for a cellulose, or cellulose blend filter in this case.

I think you may (temporarily at least ( : < ) hold the record for the longest P1 run on the board. Enjoy it while you can! ( : < )

Wow 16k! I agree I think he's got the record for a Pureone at the moment, at least by my recollection.
