I find it odd that mobil 1 doing 8 to 10K drain gave that carbon, sludge etc in the motor.

I am doing 10 to 12K drains in my Lexus with the sluge prone 1MZ motor; nothing new on the sludge deal since it has been out for years.

Here are some pix:

That being stated I am 8 months into another extended drain and going to test (another test) at the end of this month. Want to see how LC (first time use) is doing (along with FP60).

Most times the PVc, TB, IVAC etc need to be cleaned and this will help in adding this from not happening.

I'm glad a little humor got injected into this thread. It was heading for Nastyville for a while.

While you are at it maybe you can check her blinker fluid..she'll probably appreciate it.

Any amount of clearly visible build-up $pells trouble for:

Connecting rod bearings and main bearings
Oil pump and pickup
Rings
Valve seals

HDEO will only help keep clean whats clean.
We have a 97 Camry, with the 5SLUDGE-FE engine. It has almost 300K KM's on it and I dare not look inside to see what it looks like. The last oil change was actually 5w-20. Engine runs good with the exception of some blue smoking after atartup when driven. Yes, I typed 5w-20!!

mburnickas,

that looks similar to the amount of sludge I have/had in my saab. Yesterday I removed the oilpan and though the valve train was only lightly sludged, the inside walls of the block had a nice uniform coat.

BrianWC - There is no sludge in the VC; the black stuff is just used oil. The varish is a little but that does nothing.

Also what "uniform coat" are you talking about? Sludge, varnish, etc?

So far, for me I am very happy using amsoil (as pix show). I like the LC20 so far but the oil test will be the judge of that. I was going to use AutoRX until it stated I must do a dino rise and #2, there is no need for it.For me, the amsoil is working.

I still do not know how the original poster got his engine so sludged using Mobil 1. I think it is something else that got it sludged, not the oil.

Sorry, it looked like a bit of sludge just right of the far right exhaust cam lobe. I had just a tad here and there.

I also had that coat of varnish. As for uniform coat, I meant sludge on the bottom end of my engine.

ok, just wondered.

It will be interesting to see how the LC20 does in there and on the next oil test.

Today I got 4 bottles of AutoRX (enough for 3 of the cars) plus 4 cheap Asian filters each for both the van and the Camry. I'm all excitable like! Can't wait to try this stuff out and see what I get.

I agree 427Z06 I am so tired of people thinking HDEO or ATF will clean anyting!!! Sure will HDEO do a better then average job keeping an engine clean when compared to a comparable base stock PCMO sure but that is about it!!!
