The guy has four 150 watt flood lamps pointed directly into his backyard. The only reason I can see for this much lighting is if he's running a prison in his basement and is constantly on the lookout for escapees.
Seriously though... there's 600 watts of illumination blazing into every window in the back of my house. Every night. For 10 months.
I've talked to the cops. They say there's nothing they can do. I know they're 150 watt lamps because I've snuck over and unscrewed them. I've also tried to move the lamps so they're not shining into my bedroom window. The guy won't take a hint. As a last resort, I've plated some trees to block the light. Obviously, they'll take a while to grow in, but it's all I could do.
I would go talk to him, but I think he hates me. He didn't take the hint that the lights are quite bothersome (as if four flood lights pointed at your house would ever *not* be bothersome), so I think he's doing it now just to mess with me. I'm afraid to talk to him. I mean, what if the dude is packing heat or something. I don't know his mental state and I've heard too many stories about wonked out neighbors. Maybe he's running a grow op or something. I don't know...
I'd be happy if they were motion lights or something or swapped them to a general exterior lamp. But flood lamps? That's task lighting, not general lighting. Pointed away from his house, it certainly isn't bothering him. What should I do?
