He's why HOAs exist.Guy I used to work with is a great guy, but don't cross him.
Worked with him when I first moved here, in an old building, with a flat roof. We were both mechanics.
Every rain, water would leak into the shop and make the floor a mess. Must have been the low point there.
Anyway, one day between rains, he asked me to raise him up there with a loader bucket. I figured he would be checking for source of the leak.
But no...he counted steps to the owner's office. Proceeded to take an awl and make sure he took on water also, right above his desk.
The roof was repaired soon.
He owns an acreage about 6 miles out of town. Nice quiet neighborhood, surrounded by farm land. Fast forward, guy about 1/4 mile down the road from him, decided to build one of those fancy wedding and event venues. Really nice looking place. Neighbor's protested, but the county approved the permit
and it was built.
Now he invites almost anybody and their friends, to come to his acreage shooting during their events. LOL! I want it to sound like a shooting range, his exact words. I attended one of his shoots. They set off some 1LB jugs of Tannerite. Then the grand final was a 4LB jug. It had to have rattled their windows. You can hear a blast like that 10 miles away.![]()
None out in that area, just single family acreages. He's why HOAs exist.
Sure but just saying his behavior is why HOAs exist.None out in that area, just single family acreages.
I suppose if the venue owner greased his palms for a couple hundred $ per event, he might keep the shooting down.
They moved into his area, not him into theirs. Now he gets to listen to their music until midnight.
Wish I could persuade them into playing Rap music. That would probably push him over the edge!![]()
That statement alone completely justifies his actions! They moved into his area, not him into theirs.
You're right, very few if any HOAs would allow a commercial event venue and music/party until the late hours......Sure but just saying his behavior is why HOAs exist.
Actually, the wedding venue operator is equally at fault. That venue, that makes loud music and disturbs @Jdeere562 ’s friend, is a nuisance as well. That operator didn’t ask the neighbors if they were OK with loud parties and live music every weekend. That kind of behaviour wouldn’t fly with an HOA, either.Sure but just saying his behavior is why HOAs exist.
I was gonna say the same thing....childish...like those stories when people have 9 mil. homes, and both parties direct loudspeakers at the other's home, just to antagonize the other. Or they deliberately build something to block a view.Trying to ruin someones wedding is a lousy thing to do. He sounds like a jerk.
yeah. I would be careful with certain types of retaliation. Lots of laws these days people know about n how to use and will at times. I have talked to a lawyer and been told when someone does things intentional to disturb your peace you can actually take them to court and have them fined.I agree, this situation seems frustrating for both sides, but the guy doing the shooting range should ask himself how would he feel if someone did this at his son or daughters wedding... Sometimes people just need to try and get along.
Just my $0.02
The LEOs who have come to my house have told me plain. They say the law is set up in many places like this. If I can hear your noise or music INSIDE of my home, (day or night) it is entirely too loud and is in fact disturbing the peace and breaking the law and they MUST turn it down. Both are stupid and petty.

I completely agree. My ex lived in a 3-unit building/house in Chicago and her upstairs neighbor would always play stupid loud music during the day. No way to make them stop, unless we were to play stupid loud music at night in retaliation when they were trying to sleep (we never did but we sure made them hear other things.)
