What is your preferred auto parts store rewards program and why? Does that get you to buy from that source more than others, even if the purchase price may be a few dollars more (it's getting you that much closer to a reward, after all)?

I am currently signed up for AutoZone's and Pep Boys'. I will probably sign up for O'Reilly's the next time I am in-store to buy something, but it seems pretty weak (spend $150 and get a $5 gift card...so 3.3% reward?!?).

I have used AZ's to get one $20 gift card. Theirs is tricky, as you have to make 10 purchases of $20 or more and purchasing a $100 part counts as one purchase, but if you are buying $100 of smaller parts (spark plugs, wires, oil, filter, etc.), you could theoretically break it up into 5 purchases and be halfway there in one visit. I buy my $30+ parts online anyway, so it has worked out pretty well for me thus far. I do not often shop at Pep Boys, so have not amassed many points there and have not looked too closely at their rewards structure, but I know it is dollars-for-points.

I thought AZ was 5 $20 purchases...

I wonder if it's different in different markets. The website says see your local store for details.

Wouldn't surprise me if different regions had different guidelines.

Here AZ is 5 $20 and + purchases for $20 in rewards. I think AAP is probably best with their codes for online purchases.

I agree with the statement about Advance Auto Parts, I used to think they were terribly overpriced, and never bought anything there, and always opted for O'Rilley.. then I learned AAP ALWAYS has coupons online.. that makes Advance Auto Parts way more competitive price wise vs Autozone/O'Rilley

I think you're right, which makes their program even better for smaller purchases, as it could be 20% back.
