Post your latest small engine oil change

Just picked up this 2015 Exmark Viking 48" hydro walk-behind with the sulky and Kawasaki FS481V engine. I have a 1998 Exmark 48" Metro walk behind with sulky that works great, but this one being a hydro will make mowing around all my gardens, patio, and fruit trees much quicker since it has reverse. The Metro being a belt drive has "reverse assist" but really needs to be pulled backward. This also has a larger engine, where the Metro has a single cylinder Kawasaki 14hp.

As always it needs a few things to be up to my standards, such as new rear tires/tubes, belts, deck idler pulleys, all fluids and filters changed, and some new blades. Otherwise it works well and starts first pull, 660 hours which is nothing for one of these.

I actually destroyed the old filter removing it, and made quite a mess, so wasn't able to cut it with my filter cutter. I'm thinking whoever put it on cranked it down with a filter wrench. I had to use a big vice-grip pliers style filter wrench. 🤦‍♂️

1985 Troy-Bilt Pony rototiller. Purchased and collected from the factory in Troy, not an MTD product. 5 HP Briggs flathead.

I'm not thrilled about running a 5w-30 in this engine but curiosity got the best of me. This machine will see a few minutes of run time here and there for succession plantings but won't see a real workout until the fall cleanup in November.

Picked up an orange tag returned/clearance 9000w Predator generator at HF for just under $400. Looked like it was used once. Fired right up. Put in a custom mix of 0w20/5w40 Total quartz for a 5 hour break-in with a few space heaters. Will put in some motorcraft 15w40 and install an hour meter afterwards.

Monthly exercise today. I changed the 10w40 AMSOIL in May and forgot to take a picture. Usually change once a year, or 50 hours use on the clock, whichever comes first. This generator was bought used, for less than 1/2 price, and the original owner bought it for emergency use if required during his daughter’s wedding, but was not needed. Had maybe 10 hours on it then and I’ve put on 100 hours since purchasing it.
I’m following this thread with interest to see how many folks remain loyal to one oil brand or not. I like to buy my oil by the case which is usually a better deal, and leaves me with lots of spares for emergencies.

2019 Generac 16kw standby generator, GT999 engine

Last year I changed the regular exercise cycle of 10 minutes from weekly to biweekly because the used oil looked milky. This year the used oil looks normal, so the adjustment helped. Engine runs on propane, which contributes to moisture buildup in the sump when it doesn't get long runs. Oil changes on this unit are simple and are performed annually.
