Post your latest oil top off

The ole whitey or 02’ Dakota with 3.9.

Added about 1/2 quart of some DELO 5w-40 since brothers friend had like 40 gallons he scored. I have 20 as this was Christmas gift from him to me.

So some restore and protect and delo is in sump. Oh boy, world might end

Isuzu/ Chevy 16 foot box truck with the 6.6 v8 IIRC. I'm a mobile truck tech and since 2020 this customer's isuzu trucks have been consuming oil! They seem to be burning it somewhere... every single one of them! When they ran to the dealer/ supplier for warranty repairs they were told the oil consumption was "normal" as it isn't more than 1 or 2 quarts per 1000 miles. They were obviously trying to get out of warranty and kick the can down the road!

4 weeks on a fresh oil change, truck needed two quarts of oil. These are an 8 quart capacity engine. I added 2 quarts of Ford motorcraft 5w30 syn blend. (There was no oil on the dipstick at all!)

Many of these trucks are getting high mileage pennzoil. The last two I changed the oil on I used Castrol 5w30 full synthetic with the 20k mile rating and was curious how long it would last.

No leaks found on any of these engines but they consume oil.

A little over 2k on the OCI and I'm surprised my 3.9L hasn't lost any. Even after pulling the 16ft trailer loaded at 70mph/3k for a couple hours. The last change used Supertech 5w30 vs Quaker State 5w30 on the prior change.. should just recycle any of the Quaker State I have left every machine I've put it in consumes it.

Try a 30wt oil with a hths of 3.5 or higher, such as a euro oil. Not sure it'll help but it won't hurt

I’ve come to realization dad didn’t take care of the truck since I had to fix frame and do tune up and other stuff. It’s getting rural king brand 15w-40 til it blows or?

1 quart of closeout Quaker State 20w-50, added to my daughter's Jeep WJ with the bent unibody. Since it got rear-ended about six weeks ago and is obviously totaled, I have stopped maintaining it. I heard it clattering worse than normal at startup yesterday when my daughter was leaving so broke down and added a quart of the cheapest oil I had to bring it up to the add mark. I should of added a quart of used oil instead, lol.

The JET lathe I use at work, GX1860(?) I believe. Added some Pennzoil platinum 5w20 i found in the shop to the X axis way oil reservoir because we're out of way oil and it needed some. Manual says 20wt oil, methinks the platinum will suffice.

2 qts of Valvoline Maxlife 20w50 in my 90 C1500. Discovered I have a rear main seal leak.
Try ATP-205 on that seal leak. Worked for me on vehicle engines and OPE engines. My 96' snow blower leaked ALL the oil out of it while sitting in summer storage. Right out from the rear seal. Put 1/2 bottle of ATP-205, and the rest was 30wt oil. Stopped that leak in a few hours running it. As long as the seal is not torn, it should swell it, and stop it. That stuff even swelled valve stem seals on my 03' Toyota. No more puff of blue smoke on cold starts.

2023 Silverado 2.7 35k miles

4850 on oil about 3/4 of a quart low ......... this is almost the exact amount this truck uses each 4.5 to 5k

Topped up with AC Delco Dexos 5w30 of the mobil bottle design

Each time I top it off it gets run to 5k and changed with PF66
I have been considering this engine in the silverado as my next truck.
Sucks some use oil at such low miles.

I top off my 2003 avalanche 5.3 once a month because it leaks. Leaks a lot now.

Amazing engine zero issues with the truck other than the oil usage more reliable than SOME of the other V8 trucks in the fleet plenty of power to do anything a half ton is made for

80k+ on that particular truck now it has leveled off at one quart aprox per 1.750 miles ...... I have found that driving conditions greatly effect the amount used for example on a long trip all highway from OKC to Alamosa Colorado and back it was nearly 2k miles all highway and it barley used ANY when doing service calls and city driving its right on at one quart per 1750 to 2000

Here are the oils this truck has used with ALMOST no difference in consumption

AC delco full syn ( Mobil Shaped bottles)
Mobil 1 Truck and SUV
Mobil High mileage full syn
Castrol Silver bottle GTX

Unscientific but the GTX 5w30 SEEMS to burn off slower but I am waiting a while for this to prove true

With recent oil price speculation I did grab 6 Five quart jugs of Silver GTX so this truck will be burning this oil for the foreseeable future
