Post your latest oil or filter purchase

Went to WalMart this morning and bought 1 oil change for each vehicle. Prices still the same but if the price of oil does what gas has done this $152 stash will soon cost $245. This will get me through until late fall for 3 of the vehicles. Debating another OC worth.

Well, I caved and bought 4 more jugs of Valvoline Restore and Protect but this time in 5W-30. Gonna use in my Impreza after I get through the rest of the Pennzoil Platinum and Castrol Edge. Stepping up to 5W-30 due to it being DI and putting more miles on between OCIs. Not more than 6k but historically I was going 1200-3000 miles between changes until we were required to go back into the office full time.

5w-20 before? Never a bad idea to step up a grade.

Just ordered up another 20qt box of 5W30 Valvoline Restore and Protect.

I'm not exactly sure where it all goes. I looked back through my invoice and this makes box #4 I've bought. Sure doesn't seem that I've done that many oil changes with it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

--edit--

Went back and looked. Nope, it is all accounted for. I sure do go through a good bit of oil.

Current flavor-of-the-month seems to be going to Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30. Lots of positive reviews. Valvoline has done extensive testing with good videos on YouTube to support their findings. I'd be using it if not already running HPL, keeping OCIs at 5k-ish miles, as this oil is not marketed as long-life. Valvoline is saying follow manufacturers' recommended interval.

Use a high quality filter... always.

Changing our daughter's two Hondas to VRP as soon as our schedules allow it.

Thanks. They all called for 5w20, but are all over 150k miles now, so I will step it up to 5w30 VRP. I also bought several Premium Guard EX filters from Rockauto for all 3. Hoping this combo is a pretty good one.

Bought the last 2 Supertech St3614s from the local Walmart, as it looks it they aren't going to be in stock for some time with the whole first brands debacle. Bought 2 Fram 3600s as well.

And one Supertech ST2

12qts Fram 10w-30 FS from AAP clearance

Going forward, I’d like to stick to one oil for all my cars and my girlfriend’s car. What oil and weight would be a good choice?

2008 Ford Ranger 2.3L
2003 Honda Odyssey
2016 Hyundai Elantra 1.8L GDI
Given that your vehicles are all older than 10yrs old I’d use any inexpensive synthetic 5w-30. These are all good vehicles and may out last you.

Well, we traded the 2025 Honda HRV EX-L that my wife really disliked, our dealer gave us a particularly good deal on a new 2026 Civic Hybrid Touring Sedan. I had already switched the HRV over to Amsoil Signature 0w20 and i had purchased 2 additional gallons of the same, with a additional quart as the HRV took 4.4 quarts for a change. The new Civic has the 2.0L Atkinson Cycle engine so I'm all set for the next 2 changes. Already had one of the new Mobil 1 M1-110A filter (Warren) so I'll either get an additional filter or wait until my next trip through Towson and get a couple of Microgard Select from O'REILLY's. Hopefully Amsoil will find a new US supplier to replace their Champion Labs sourced filters.

I picked up a jug of ESP 0w-20 from Canadian Tire yesterday. It is on sale for $43.99, plus I got $4 back in CT money and I will be submitting for the $10 rebate as well. In the end that means I got this oil for $29.99 Canadian ($21.59 US)
