Post your latest oil or filter purchase

I’m set for a year or so two vehicles 2024 rubicon 3.6 and 2023 cx5 turbo. Mazda dealership sends me a $40 gift card once a month trying to get me to come in for service. I just buy oil filters, cabin filters and air filters with them

Walmart it is!

$7.98 a piece or so. I got too used to living within 3 toyota dealers and buying 4 at a time for $5. When I bought the Tacoma when we moved from a different state i ran into a Toyota & honda joint dealership. The one oil filter was $15. Yikes. So, walmart was convienet this time around. I will make sure to hit the toyota dealer way north of here if I can and purchase more than one at a time.
If possible order at autoparts.toyota.com and have them delivered to the local Toy dealer. I was able to get filters for $5.xx + tax.

Thanks. I order lots from rock auto and a toyota wholesale dealer called mcgeorge. That's a reminder, checked rock auto and the denso air filter for my tacoma is $15 on rockauto which is very fair! Add some other things to make shipping worth it! I usually save 30 to 50 percent or more.

The nub it locks into on the cap side is the bypass valve. While it can move somewhat under friction, it is suppose to remain static with the housing side tip o-ring is suppose to spin as it is screwed down with the outside media of the cage somewhat floating and not rotating a as much if at all as the cap is screwed down.

I first noticed this on standard WIX cartridge filters and now this Hengst. Not saying to not use them but they would not be my preferred Pentastar cartridge filter. Point is moot for me though as I went to a Baxter Performance filter adapter and use regular can filter.
Ah OK
I did a bunch of reading on the Pentastar "twist" on here. Seems that even with the rotating inner cage, they can still twist. I reckon I'll just use it and see how the Hengst works. The FVP doesn't spin either. I ordered a MOPAR filter to take a look at too.

Your Baxter thing seems interesting.

I had some time to kill so I went to a couple of local auto parts stores and looked at oil filters for the yeep Wrangler 3.6l Pentastar.
Autozone sells a decent STP filter in two flavors, both made in Korea. I think that is the Champion filter, possibly?
Eagle Auto Parts-same filter as Autozone, just three times more expensive.
A-Line Auto Parts had the Federated Auto Parts PG6296ExF (LF697F) for a decent price, $10, so I bought one. I think it's a made in Korea Champion filter.
Napa Proformer 210010 looks similar to the Made in China Microgard filter I saw at O'Reiley's and the twisted filter that CARMAX put in at 3,600 miles. Reasonably priced at $6.50 so I bought one. I also looked at the NAPA Gold filter and it was also Made in China but seemed to have a different filter media and it was about $16.50.

Picked up the 4th run of Valvoline Restore and Protect for Toyota. Local Walmart was out of the 0W-20 so I went to O’Reillys. There was a $36.95 “sale” and $15 rebate. Submitted it electronically. I’ll just grab some Gumout or Rain X with the gift card when it comes in. Might actually come out to be a few bucks cheaper than Walmart in the end.

1 Mobil 1 m1-303a from walmart for the first change in my built motor Duramax, which will be going back in the truck in 2 weeks. Has my last Baldwin B1441 on it for first initial fire up and few hundred miles once its back in and running, should be about 800whp until I get more fuel. The Mobil 1 is a new manufactured one, not a M&H. It was always my preferred filter, then I got a few Baldwins and liked them too, just have to order them.

The truck has 278k on it, 2011, broke the crankshaft 10/2023. Bought it in 2017 with 191k miles, ran exclusively Rotella T6 in it for 7.5-10k miles. Took it apart, everything looked beautiful, no sludge anywhere. Bearings had very little wear, except where the crank broke and spun the rod bearings. It still ran though. Currently have 10 gal of mobil delvac 1300 15w40 for it.

Bought a couple more Pentastar filters. I ordered the MOPAR 68191349AC filter from Walmart online. What arrived was MO-349. Hopefully they are the same. Also a Super Tech ST11665 from the store. The MOPAR filter has about a dozen more pleats than the ST.

I passed by local Jeep dealer to get some bolts for skid plate for father-in-laws Renegade. I'll probably do a change this weekend since he's 300 miles shy of the 4k severe service but he does idle a lot also reading his newspaper etc. They had mentioned it prior but they have a "loyalty bucks" thing when you go for service. He still had some of that available so I got the bolts and 2 filters, still enough left for 1 more filter in future.

Since he's paying for parts, not labor, I'll probably hit up AAP for a jug of Valvoline Restore and Protect, not sure what viscosity, and a CQP filter for the Honda's. His Renegade will get the AAP clearance Delo 5W-40, I think I have 2 OCI's worth left.

Bought another jug of Valvoline Restore and Protect because every **** person on here is doing the same lol. Decided to go with the 0w20 for my 2014 Accord V6 with some light oil burning issues. I'll use the 5W30 on my 2011 RX 350 that leaks a bit.

O'Reilly's offered a free Wix XP with the purchase but they let me get a Microgard Select instead. No biggie for them as it is a less expensive filter even if people on BITOG have the hots for it.

Had a $5 promo code from Walmart in my inbox. Labor Day weekend sale on Mobil 1 5W30 full synthetic 5 qt jug for $ 24 bucks. Bought 2 , plus the promo code, came out to $48 bucks free delivery....Now...where do I put it. I'm out of room. HELP !!!! Swimming in oil / filters/ CAF's/ brake clean/ etc...Oh, got room in the attic...Nevermind...LOL :) ( Then I'll forget it's up there, I just know it :( )

At second dealer to get the rest of bolts to replace the missing, partially stripped ones. I didn't buy it but nice clean shiny SRT oil filter? Different flow/efficiency? Just looks nice for show?
