Out: 0W20 Pennzoil Platinum, Motorcraft FL820S
In: 6 qts 5W20 SuperTech HM Full Synthetic, Motorcraft FL820S, new drain plug o-ring.

Last time I was swayed to try 0W20 since the bottle sticker said same protection as 5W20, the engine ran and sounded no different. I felt better sticking with spec 5W20 this time.

Washed the Airaid non-oiled air filter, slipped the pre-filter back over it this time, since the filter gets much dirtier without it. Figure less dirt will make it into the engine and oil as well.

In: 1 quart HPL EC30

The Fram TG 7317 wasn't installed today. The plan is to let the EC30 start to do its thing and then change the filter. That could be tomorrow or as late as 3 November based upon my schedule. That later date would see roughly 250 miles before the filter change.

So what are your thoughts: good plan or bad plan?

I like that plan. I’m in same boat; have quart of HPL EC 30 in the 02’ Dakota. Oil already darkening and I have 200 miles since oil change.

In my case the oil was dark already so I ,ay or may not notice any change.

The extended plan is to run the EC30 for the next four weeks or 1000 miles before replacing with HPL Premium Plus 0w-30. This vehicle is parked outdoors and departs for work at 5:30 AM when it can be rather chilly over the winter.

Drained out Napa 10W30/Napa Gold 1348 with about 10.5 k miles on it

today at 256,040 miles dumped some Amsoil 15W40 in it along with another 1348
