1st oil change in the Mazda CX50 @ 4552 miles/6 months

Oil out / Filter off - Factory fill Mazda 0w20 / Mazda PE01 14 302B (Tokyo Roki made in Japan)
Oil in / Filter on - Mobil1 EP 0w20 / Mazda 1WPE 14 302 (Made in Thailand)

The fun part was getting the original washer off of the drain bolt. It was all painted together when they painted the oil pan, so I had to run a blade between the bolt head and washer to split the paint. I won't have to worry about that again, on this car anyway.
Besides that, I love how the drain bolt and filter are so close together. I busted both loose(filter 1st), removed them, and let the oil drain to a very slow drip. It's nice not having to move the drain pan from one to the other.
The manual calls for 4.8 quarts w/ filter change. I put in 5 quarts and it's registering @ 3/4 between the MIN/MAX holes.

During a warranty visit, the dealership asked if i wanted to take advantage of the one free oil change i received with the vehicle's purchase. I said, why not.

Friend's 2013 KIA Rio, second oil change under my care. She noted high oil consumption in which the dipstick level was bottomed out. She drove a total distance of 3274 miles and rolled in with the mileage of 81784. Performed a BG EPR flush for 30 minutes with a Supertech MP9688 as a sacrificial filter. PCV valve is getting replaced soon.

Out came Valvoline Extended Protection 5w-30, BG EPR, Supertech MP9688 & Fram FE7317 oil filter.

In went in 3.5 quarts of Valvoline Restore & Protect 5w-30, 0.5 quarts HPL Engine Cleaner 30 & wire backed Fram FS9688.

Oil filter cut and post will be tomorrow.

Not much Dr. Mewbs can do, if patient won't adequately & repeatedly feed her S, Korean baby.
Permanent damage / Irreversible damage / start shopping for place of final rest.
Reserve non-flowery space now. Rack #3 is available and often half-empty.
She lost about 1 and a half quart when rolled in. I did advise her to check the dipstick once an month. Im doing my best to tackle the problem. Until her next visit will determine if it needs mechanical service.

I really dont get why KIA Hyundai spec such a small capacity sump for such a problematic engine. 3.5 quarts fill is small to me... I fill her 4 quarts when she rolled out as a safety measure.

I am curious to see your results. My friend has a 20 Soul with over 90k and it burns a quart every 5k
