Post your last tire/wheel purchase

I am in need of new tires for my 2008 Ford Escape. The Cooper Evolution that are on it are worn out. Can’t get those anymore as they are discontinued but also I’d never buy Cooper tires again after finding out they are made by Goodyear now. So I decided to order some Continental CrossContact LX25. I was able to get them for about $700 with my work discount. I love white lettering on tires as well. Huge plus.

My dad keeps telling me I’ll regret my decision for not buying Michelin but honestly not impressed with the Michelin tire options that were available plus being $215 with my discount they can keep them. $232 without the discount. And Michelin tires are an absolute nightmare to install because of the stiff sidewalls. I normally buy Uniroyal Tiger Paw as they are my absolute favorite tire and the best tire in my opinion. But not available in the size I need unfortunately however the Laredo were which I don’t know much about.

Well, it’s that time of the year again shopping for winter tires.
20x8.5 +47 offset wheels from a 2024 3500 Denali for the 2018 3500 High Country. Tires: 275/65R20 Hankook I-Pike RW-11 directional with three ply sidewalls.
I’ve bought these before for a 2011 2500.

17x8 +40, 6x120 bolt pattern Fast HD Thunder for a 2022 Acadia. Tires I have already, 245/70R17E General Arctic.

17x8 +40 5x115mm bolt pattern for a 2023 GMC Terrain. Granny in law hasn’t decided on tires yet, maybe 225/65R17 Toyo AT3s. That size also comes in LT D rated with a 15.9/32 tread for deep snow.

All going on my Master Card.

New tires are here. Nice looking tires. Yes white letters going on the outside.

Just ordered a set of Hankook Winter I*Cept EVO 3X for my leased Blazer EV. 275/45R21. Most options are stupid expensive (~$500/ea), Walmart had the Hankooks for $239/ea. Reviews from the UK are actually quite good. Also found a set of barely used factory 21” rims from a salvage yard for around $1,000.

I just had a set of Bridgestone Weatherpeaks put on my 2018 Avalon back in July. It's way too soon to review or compare with my worn out Primacy MXV4's. However, first impressions are good all around. I stayed away from the Michelin CC2 because the tread looks like it would be noisy, and I did read about the drop in mpg's. It has excellent reviews in every other respect.

Brand new 3-season Michelin Defender2's for the spring, summer and fall from Costco. (I have another set of Michelin X-Ice Snow for the winter.) These new tires replaced an old set of Michelin Premier A/S. (If I didn't already have dedicated winter tires I probably would have gotten the CrossClimate2's.)

Driven these new Defender2's for a couple days and they feel great, very sturdy. For some reason Michelin is making a lot of their tires XL now.

Planning a big road trip in October for these!

Not me but my dad just bought 2 sets of CC2s. One for a 2008 Camry Hybrid and the other for a 2009 Rav4. I may have the years mixed up; could be the other way but I think I got it right. He had the Camry done yesterday and the Rav4 is being done today. Got them at Costco.

Today:
New set of Sentury Touring 94V from discount tire. 215/55r17 for the Altima. 41,354 miles on OEM Continental's. Edges were weather checking. These Sentury are made in Thailand. Reviews were good, price was better. $386 out the door installed.

Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 in the next largest factory size replacing the OE Yokohama Geo XC-V for the new Land Cruiser. The OE tires were fine and quiet as you would expect, but the Michelins are surprisingly a bit quieter on the highway. Indicated mileage is not noticeably different so far. Ride and rain performance was similar, but I will expect the Michelins to be better in light snow. Most surprisingly was that my friend's shop was able to beat the big national retailer and from a local distributor so no shipping. Donated the Yokos to a local charity to be redeployed to someone needy.

I recommend the LTX M/S2.

The Goodyear UltraGrip Ice 2 started to get slightly slippery under Mondeo last winter so after two seasons so I decided to get new tyres.

I have been using friction tyres for ages but got today Goodyear UltraGrip Arctic 2 studded tyres instead. They are surprisingly quiet and steer very well - unable to report anything more at this point.

Just ordered a set of Michelin CC2s for the parent’s car. Costco has a flash discount on Michelin for two weeks. Else, I was looking at a set of Wildpeak Trails.
